Is it just me or is the Orlando version the only version where exit signs are easily visible while riding? I'm talking about the exit signs seen before entering the first elevator shaft on the right side (no spin) and during the transition to Starscream's screen before the finale. I've watched POVs of both and the Hollywood version doesn't seem to have visible exit signs. Any reason for this or is it just a concession made for the limited space in USF?

I like that they covered that queue as it was sorely needed, but there's something about it that just seems off. Can't put my finger on it.

I like the effort into theming them to NEST sheltering but I am not a huge fan of the way it hugs the side of Monsters Cafe from what I can tell from the image there. That being said they did not have much choice and in the not too distant future it won't matter as much as the crownds die down.

so...the wait never made it past 100 today (at least from what I saw). In fact, it was pretty manageable, especially for a Saturday in June...when schools are out...two days after it opens.

It may be too early to tell, but I'm sticking with my original statement that the crowd predictions for Universal this summer have been overhyped.

I don't know what was going on this weekend, but Magic Kingdom was not busy either. 35 LM, 25 Dumbo, Pooh was 20, and HM was practically a walk on. I didn't see the wait time for Peter Pan, but if I had to guess I would say it was 30 based on the line I saw. I was shocked, I expected it to be really crowded, but it was less crowded than when I went in May. Space Mountain when we passed on the transportation thing was only 35 minutes. Just was an odd day. The only thing with a long line was Barnstormers and that was because it was only running one coaster. It was between 40 and 55, but I am sure that would be cut in half if they had the normal two coasters running.

I have also noticed this being an exit sign enthusiast and all lol. The reason for the visable exit signs is... well, because there's an exit. There's no way really around the signs unless the building was consructed in a way where all emergency exits were in spots not directly in front of where the RV is facing. But even if that was done it's not for sure you won't see any in the ride. This ride isn't nearly as bad with visable exit signs as ROTM or MIB though.

WTF is an exit sign enthusiast?

But you mean they are not nearly as viable as in ET and Peter Pan?

Maybe they could come up with a way that you can not see them with 3D glasses on? :pound:

Kinda like a water fountain enthusiast, or a mattress tag enthusiast. Or a shopping cart wheel enthusiast. (Not the cart, just the wheels)

I got to ride this for the first time yesterday. The first time at park opening using the standby line with about a 30 minute wait. I like the queue and really enjoyed the ride. It's my new favorite ride at US. We then rode again around 4pm using single rider line. We waited about 15 minutes. This time I was really looking for the lifts and saw them both.

The first one is right after OP says roll out and Evac "speeds down the road". I have to assume that's how they get the "speed" effect
The second one is when Evac is falling and Bumblebee catches us.

Edit to add that the biggest wait time I saw was 120 minutes in the morning right after we rode. Then in maintained around 70 or so. When we went back at 4pm the standby line was a posted 60 minutes. We left the park right after. For those asking when is the best time to ride - I would say at park opening.

Maybe this weekend was exceptionally slow, but I think it's the start of a trend this summer. As a matter of fact, I think Orlando tourism will be down all over the place--Disney has nothing all that new, SeaWorld...well I don't know many people who plan trips just for SeaWorld. That leaves us with Universal.

Everyone has been saying this will be one of Universal's biggest summers but I keep saying it will be very average. I got shot down the first time I said this, but I'll say it again:
1. Not enough of a Transformers fan-base. Transformers merchandise sales have been very disappointing, especially compared to say, Despicable Me. Furthermore, European and South American audiences just don't have the same appreciation for the property.

2. It's already in Hollywood. Everyone on the West Coast and arguably Asia who wanted to ride it have done so in California. While that leaves the entire East Coast, consider this: Universal announced it pretty late in the game, and no one who really wanted to see the Transformers in action would've held off seeing Hollywood for a Florida trip simply because they didn't have time to. All the theme park nerds who make trips to parks for one ride would've already done so for the Hollywood version. So now everyone not a driving distance away from Orlando won't feel the need to go down and ride Transformers because if they love parks that much, they already went to see it in Hollywood. Of course, for some it isn't feasible to go all the way to Hollywood to ride it, so they will surely make up a large population of the Universal summer crowds but those average theme park goers are probably weary of the proposed crowds anyway.

3. Universal announced Harry Potter before Transformers opened. Dumb move. Now people have to ask themselves, "hmm, do we go now for just one ride, or wait a couple years for a whole new land?" So now we're missing out on those who are going to come down for Harry Potter and figure they'll just do it all in one trip.

Basically, this summer is going to see a lot of locals but I don't think much else besides people who already take annual trips anyway or people who were going to come no matter what. It'll probably be about on par with the crowds when Despicable Me opened, probably a bit meatier but not by much.

Do you have actual numbers to back this up? I only ask because I saw alot of people buying Transformers merchandise yesterday. Plus I saw a lot of the merchandise being worn around the parks. One kid was changing into his new shirt right outside the store. I'm just wondering where this statement is coming from?

I do not have concrete numbers I can share, so unfortunately you have to just take my word for it. That being said, the sales figures I'm referring to are from before the official opening of the ride...sales in the Supply Vault may be up since the ride has opened, but vendors and soft opening sales were not up to snuff.

I do not know how transformers merchandise is doing, but I think it should start to increase now that the ride is open. I do not have anything to back this up, but my daughter does have a way of influencing my purchases. We had gone into the vault on a visit prior to the ride opening and she had no interest in having anything from the store.

We then watched the movies prior to going up for the pass holder previews (my daughter has gotten into older movies such as ET due to rides at UNI) and my daughter seemed to like Bumble Bee, but after riding and seeing Bumble Bee in action, she just had to have a shirt, a character refillable mug, and an action figure....yeah, I'm the sucker for given in so easily. Anyway, just based on my experiences with my daughter, I think any theme park ride is a great advertising means for merchandise, so I feel that having the ride open will help improve sales from what they were doing prior to the ride opening.

^this is probably true but it doesn't change the fact that it still obviously lacks a strong enough core fan base, or at least, one that is willing to come to Florida. My other two points still stand as well. Really, it should be a good thing...who likes crowds??
