See, for me as long as the AR figures are on top of mostly practical albeit projection-mapped SETS, then alright. This was hyped as a fairly practical attraction, and having it morph into another screenz ride, yes, would be a huge disappointment.

That's what I figured it would be like anyways. I too would be disappointed if it was all 100% screenz, but from everything we've been hearing, that doesn't look like it would be the case.

Yeah I always expected the characters to be AR. But I expected them to be more “on top of” physical sets and some physical objects. If it’s anything like Alicia’s vids have described it, I’m satisfied.

I hope the next couple of rides after VC are more physical as well, especially something slower paced (like Pets) for those who can't do coasters.

Current back and forth on Themeparx from a supposed visitor, more questions are being asked, vague, makes me sus. Basically, a review that again essentially says you’re never going super fast (we know this), very family friendly, best target shooting ride in the world. Overall they liked SNW’s theming more than SWGE, food is a massive hit. Take it all with a grain of salt!

Yeah, it’s kind of annoying how conveniently vague their responses are.

Question: “and how was Koopas Challenge?”
Answer: “At best, it’s family-friendly. At worst, it’s for children.”

That’s such a broad, non-specific answer. “Family-friendly” could be anything from Forbidden Journey or Rise of the Resistance to Midway Mania or The Simpsons Ride. It’s meaningless when said answers are giving us absolutely nothing.

If anyone expected MK to be an intense ride, they were deluded. lol

Anyway, I could see MMRR being a good comparison in terms of practical vs. screenz (note that I've just seen the POV of MMRR, but gives enough of an idea of how screen-based it is)--and one of the biggest screenz haters in the theme park-o-sphere (much moreso than me, not naming names) has it as his favorite attraction at DHS.

That's what I've compared MK to based on everything that we heard.

Even the practical set pieces are in front of backgrounds on screens for half the ride, so if you ask people about screens they’re gonna say there were screens the whole time. But this thing is supposed to have set pieces in nearly every scene for foreground.

Remember that Dolphin Shoals concept art that was posted? That coral was physical, the water and bubbles behind it is probably screens. Characters in AR.

Layerz.

I mean even Hagrid is considered a family coaster

I'm not sure exactly what that person was expecting? Steel Vengeance??

In all seriousness I'm too afraid to post that concept art but it appears to be somewhat practical, I think?

I feel like the conception I had about what sort of ride Mario Kart would be has set myself up for some disappointment.

Dynamic Attraction's Dual Power coaster really threw me off

However....I'm still waiting for a video of some kind to just see what they came up with

Honestly, I just wanted some really well done indoor animatronics. Animatronics are the cloeset thing to bringing a character to life outside of character costumes. If they don't even have a single impressive Mario animatronic at the end, I'm going to be a little shocked.

The giant mistake I made was thinking this was Universal's answer to Rise. And the size of the ride building is really what pushed my excitement into hyperdrive.

Guys... can we please... please... stop calling this dead on arrival or disappointing or whatever else before we even have confirmed accounts of what the ride consists of?

My guess is elaborate practical sets for each "scene", projection mapping for transitions between scenes, and anything that moves will be AR.

On another note, although the Yoshi ride is really cute and succeeds at its goal of being the land's family-friendly supporting attraction, can we speak about its queue ?
Pictures of it were posted on ThemeparX and, aside from the Toadette scene, the quality of the queue area really looks crap and unfinished... It is a regular switchback queue in a bare-looking and (almost) empty room and we can clearly see the ugly ceiling....
Really stands out in a bad way compared to the theming of the rest of the land and to the queue for MK.

And this, sounds freaking insane haha.

Nit singling anyone out cause I think we all wanted AAs. Could still get some, but I feel the AR is going to immerse us so much more than we could ever imagine just because of how much is happening around us. Also will make it all looks realistic, again, this is a blend of every theme park trick in the book happening AT ONCE. Sounds ridiculous.

Also I feel it was more than a few vocal minorities that think the Kylo AA at the end of Rise looks goofy, so, idk what people want exactly. AAs can only do so much.

Why does every ride one company does need an "answer" from another company? Hell you can argue Rise is Disney's answer to Forbidden Journey, and it opened a decade after that. A good/great ride is a good/great ride no matter what kind of ride the competition opened last year.

While this poster did seem to specifically compare it to Rise, it’s natural to compare 2 headlining attractions from the 2 leading theme park entertainment groups in the world, lets not act like it’s crazy or far fetched they feed off each other a little bit, whether or not things are actual direct responses.

Universal already opened a headlining attraction the same year that Rise opened. The point isn’t comparison, it’s “Why doesn’t this ride do everything that Rise does?” It’s unrealistic.
