With Shrek closed for a couple of days, supposedly it's receiving an audio and lighting enhancement. Do you think this could signal that the theater may be used for HHN and/or as a flex space? I believe one of Shrek's theaters in Orlando will be used for HHN. What do ya'll think?

Now, in the past this area was used for a HHN location, until 2012. I did ask John about it earlier this year and he said no.

Correct, the queue was used as a maze. I'm talking specifically the theater itself.

Shrek is closed for two days !? NOOOOOO!!!! how am I ever going to get my Shrek fix!?

Joking aside, I'm hoping that they're prepping the space to HHN. The event needs shows.....desperately.

The show is getting lighting and sound upgrades. Some other things that are apparently happening, but I don't know when:

Permanent Donkey in pre-show

Shortened pre-show (3 mins instead of 6)

I'd be bummed out if they made a shorter preshow....the preshow is my favorite part of the attraction.

I absolutely can't stand the pre-show. Not only is it too long, but the time between loading the pre-show and when it actually starts is long, too.

If Donkey is being permanently placed in the pre-show, do you know if he will still be meeting guests outside of the attraction? They just assembled a permanent queue for his waffle cart meet-and-greet..!

They're apparently planning to keep Donkey outside, too.

Glad to hear that. I presume this will be the final phase of Shrek's revival..?

I'm guessing what they'll trim/cut down is the retelling of Shrek.

Yeah, who DOESN'T know the story of Shrek nowadays?

...y'know, aside from the kids who haven't grown up on this very dated franchise ;)

I don't think it's that dated and I still think kids today are growing up watching what to them is now a classic...

I grew up on classics, not sure why today's kids can't as well.

As for the length of the preshow, I've always seen guests enjoying it, despite the "length". I see nothing wrong with it...

I don't know, maybe the first Shrek but I haven't noticed this franchise aging very well at all, unlike Toy Story. It seems to be more popular overseas than it is now in the states.

Shrek has all new projections, lighting, and sound effects (not fond of some of the new effects). Check them out if you're curious.

Would've been cool if they replaced the seats with newly programmed D-Box style simulator seats that have a wider range of motions. Would've put the experience over the top.

I will give it a try.  I don't like it when the park always feels that adding something will make things better.  Does it distract from the original intent of the show much?

Nope, the show is still the same, they just added little sound effects here and there. Some of them are pretty corny, but the show itself is corny, so there's that. The projections are great, though, as well as the lighting. I haven't seen the updated pre-show yet. Also, the soundtrack has been removed from the queue.

Well that is unfortunate that the soundtrack was removed from the queue... Is it now just entirely silent except for the noise of park guests talking over each other? Not having the soundtrack sort've takes away from the experience.. and considering the amount of effort they put into making the queue look amazing, it seems like an odd thing to do. Unless it will be getting new music.... maybe...

Speaking of the queue... specifically the extended overflow queue, its rather disappointing that they didn't make more of an effort to make the covered awning more "themed" instead of looking like an after thought attachment to the building. Granted, its better than the tarps... but still. I know its behind the building and not part of the main path, HOWEVER.... why not give the same attention to detail back there as well? Especially since, you know.. come next year, you'll be able to see it from Hippogriff (yes I know, coasters are high up & you see all the badness blah blah blah..) /end rant -_-
