I just came here to say that even the rumor of The Conjuring is the first thing in this entire spec thread that had me gasp out loud with excitement. I, too, will refrain from hope because hope in HHN spec is folly.

Ya, same, I try to temper expectations because just like Scream, we've had these rumors of The Conjuring forever too, and it seems to be so tangled up in rights and licensing "issues" at the end of the day. It would be awesome though.

What would be interesting or unique about a Conjuring house?

Annabelle and the Nun alone are more interesting and unique than anything from Insidious imo.

A Conjuring Universe/Great Hits house (ideally) would theoretically be better than Insidious. Very similar, but Conjuring has more interesting visuals

Valek alone could carry a house, let alone the addition of the others.

Boris Schuster returning...also fits, he's a paranormal investigator...hence the obvious with the magnifying glass...and also I remember last year we had rumors we'd have the detective horror black and white comics house based off the tribute store that never came to fruition...could this be the year it does?
I would agree. The first time I saw the magnifying glass with a ghost in it, my initial thought was Legendary Truth.

Aiello was the co-creator of Bloody Mary in 2008 when Legendary Truth was very integral in her backstory. And if I’m not mistaken, that was the first year legendary truth was actually mentioned at the event. However, I’m not a historian, so I might be wrong on that.

So, Legendary Truth seems like a very fitting possibility.

And honestly after how well the Insidious house did last year I can absolutely see why Uni would potentially be interested in trying to recapture that success with a similar but bigger IP like Conjuring

That’s not even mentioning the new film coming out this year that Blumhouse/Atomic Monster (a company with obviously very strong ties to Universal) are a co-producer on.

Does anyone know if they would be able to do the new one even if six flags still has their contact?

I know we’ve talked a lot about what could happen if the six flags contact ended but is there some loophole with the new one?

I think people forget that if there is a symbol that is shared between both maps, it’s definitely being referenced as an IP.

As much as I want LT and Boris back, the Ghost and the Magnifying glass is definitely referring to some sort of IP.

I wonder also if there’s another loophole to possibly use specifically in Florida because there aren’t any Six Flags parks in the state. So even if that Fright Fest contract is still active would it even apply to Orlando to begin with?

Kind of like how USH was still able to do a TCM house last year even though some of the Six Flags parks were also featuring the property.

The Nun (and the overall Conjuring Universe) is arguably, what I'd consider to be, one of the last IP "must do" houses for HHN to create. There's a lot of IPs out there suitable for a house... but Conjuring not happening at HHN yet is arguably the most confusing thing ever (obviously licensing gets in the way, but if Six Flags was allowed to do so...).

Edit - Regarding Six Flags contract... I really hope the IP holders took it away from Six Flags. Whether or not Universal acquires the rights... Six Flags didn't provide the type of quality house those IPs deserve.

Agreed… but do any of the Conjuring ghosts or demons have any funny one liners like “HE’S GOT YOUR BABY…”

Pretty much, there's a wonderful bevy to use. For me, the Crooked Man is one of my all-time creatures which legitimately creeps me out to no end. And I wouldn't doubt if HHN got to use him, he'd be either a lanky puppet or stilt-walker which can be very effective on me...so I'd both be highly anticipating and highly dreading that.

Still curious on if we might see another Icon year. The hopeful part of me says yes, the logical part of me says no.

Okay hear me out. Lol. A few months ago there was a spec map that had an image of a lotus and a flying dove. At the time, I mentioned Flying Lotus - the horror filmmaker - who has a horror movie out called "Ash." Although Flying Lotus is not a household name, the movie is getting a lot of traction. It's space/alien themed. That could be the symbol of the spacesuit we're seeing on the most recent spec map. Is it a reach? Yes. But I'm going to throw it out regardless.

You mean the Shudder original that's made less than $1m in it's first two weekends in theaters? That's not a lot of "traction" for an event that draws worldwide crowds.

I think they're just trying to let you know, logically, that there's zero chance Ash is at HHN.

As far as Icons - if the intent this year is to go big, combining an already-established icon with several big IPs would certainly be another way to do it.
