While Im sure the cinnamon rolls will be good, I think it's another strange food item for a tavern.

I think they would have been better off just building the village bakery. This seems like it was just a way to involve Gaston and perhaps interest boys.

They completely missed the point of Butterbeer, it's so successful not just because it has a good flavor but because there is novelty and authenticity to drinking it. It makes you feel like you're in the movie, no such product was ever in Beauty and the Beast and while I'm sure the beverage will be great I don't think it'll ever be able to match the success of Butterbeer.

+1

I took one look at it and was wondering why WDW is selling Butterbeer.

From the Disney Parks Blog:

We think this signature beverage will be a big hit at Gaston’s Tavern when New Fantasyland opens later this year – LeFou’s Brew, named after Gaston’s sidekick in “Beauty and the Beast.” It’s no-sugar added frozen apple juice with a hint of toasted marshmallow, topped with all-natural passion fruit-mango foam. We bet the souvenir steins and goblets are going to go fast. (And, yes, if it sounds familiar, guests at Cars Land at the Disneyland Resort may have tasted the frozen concoction at the Cozy Cone.)

The quick-service restaurant, created to look like a comfy lodge in the English countryside, will be a great place to escape from the Florida sun. Outside is a statue of Gaston hoisting two kegs of his favorite brew; inside he’s center stage in a big portrait over the fireplace.
The signature sweet at Gaston’s, by the way, is warm, gooey cinnamon rolls, served all day.

An the award for a completely unoriginal, uninspired, and unrelated-to-the-source-material idea goes to?!?!?

Also, Butterbeer can simply be described as Butterbeer. This randomness will have to be explained as a apple slushy with a hint of marshmallow that's got a passion fruit-mango foam on top.

Passion-fruit mango just doesn't gel with this area or with cinnamon rolls...

No it says DLR paid for the product design now let's just take it to save a couple of bucks.

The entire concoction doesn't make much sense. I'm going to have to try it at DCA. Because I'm not able to picture how it would taste.

Why not more of a cinnamon-apple cider? Seems much more theme appropriate.

I wouldn't get too excited for the cinnamon rolls folks. Pretty sure they'll just be the same dried up ones you can find all around WDW or your school cafeteria.

While the drink and the cinnamon rolls, if they are "warm and gooey", sound awesome...the passion fruit-mango foam does not sound great at all. They really should have done some sort of an apple cider as JungleSkip stated.

Personally, I just think it's another example of them being SUPREMELY lazy.

They could have tried to make something that fits in theme much, much more than this. They could have tried to give the expansion a true signature drink rather than just lazily copying one from Cars Land and slapping it in a butterbeer mug.

It's just plain lazy.

That's a perfectly valid opinion. But personally, I wouldn't care much either way. I rarely by food on property anywhere, so I'm not going to get to worked up about it. I don't think it's a missed opportunity beyond making it actual tavern with beer.

Maybe Iam in a minority but Iam actual happy that its not a dark ride but instead something completely original (which a lot of people have knocked Disney for not doing original stuff but rolling out clones and Omni-movers).

Can someone point me to where people are complaining about omnimovers?

I've said this before and I'll say it again, Belle's Show looks good and cool and is unique, but when all MK has been adding in the recent years has been Meet & Greets it's simply depressing.

I agree completely. If the foam was some sort of cinnamon sugar flavor, it would make much more sense and the marshmallow would seem much less out of place.

Meet and Greets and Attractions are not mutually exclusive. IMO, mermaid and mine train are doing it right. Each will feature an attraction and an elaborate meet and greet space.

You do realize Disney has advertised this as an interactive meet and greet right? So, what it is, a meet and greet or a show? If it is a show, then Disney is misleading its guests which will lead to thousands of angry parents and thousands of whining kids because they were told one thing and given another.

"We got invited to come preview "Enchanted Tales With Belle" at Magic Kingdom's New Fantasyland today. The best way to describe this attraction is like a "Character Meet and Greet on steroids!" In a way in shares some similarities with Turtle Talk or Monsters Inc Laugh Floor in that the characters in the room interact with the audience, but this is a much more close and personal experience."

So yes I guess you could argue it both ways but one thing it isn’t is a standard M&G.

Another thing I was thinking off is the whole “Disney response to potter debate and FLE” that keeps cropping up. Could Disney have made the decision that for now it wont go head to head and compete with Universal for that teen market and in stead position its self for the pre teen market knowing that once the little ones grow up and have babies of there own they will be back 20 years later to do it all again. Would make commercial sense!!! Why try and take on Universal at its own game. Plus with 4 parks and not 2 they have more options so could do this to MK knowing that later they could add a new land to AK attracting a more teen audience (Avatar anyone).

Probable way over thinking it but just an interesting angle wondered what others think?

My 6 y/o just saw the picture of the drink and got really excited, she asked " is that at Harry Potter?" So much for Disney creating something on their own.

Can we still assume they'll still serve rootbeer and/or cream soda as a drink option? I hope so. Three Broomsticks serves more than just Butterbeer so I think it would behoove Gaston's to as well. I'm willing to try this, after all a pineapple float never sounded appealing to me until I tried one. I think people need to stop looking at this as Disney trying to make the next Butterbeer. While the idea of a foam-topped signature drink is blatantly ripped off, I seriously doubt Disney is trying to compete cup-for-cup with Butterbeer. More likely they see the "foamy themeish drink format" as a currently trendy thing to jump on. Sort of how they saw Dunnies and spun off Vinylmation. Also, I don't see a problem with Disney riding the success of Universal. It's what Uni and virtually every other theme park have done to Disney for decades now. All it means is that now Universal is doing things right. Disney would be copying other parks too if they were on a roll like UOR as been.

I'm definitively going to try it. Yeah it isn't original but if it tastes good I'm not going to argue.

The difference between this and butterbeer is that butterbeer was an idea from a book made into real life while this is just another foam-topped drink. Although it does sound good to me, I think Disney missed the mark with this one. Rather, I wished they'd made something with a cinnamon topping like someone else suggested; something about the passion fruit makes me think of an island, not a tavern.
