I just don't think we know enough about this project to have an idea of how long it will take, let alone how long it should take. Are they demolishing everything and building from scratch? That'll take longer. How much infrastructure work needs to happen to build a massive boat ride? My guess: Quite a bit! Are they building new restaurants? Will they be able to keep the existing bathrooms or will they need to build more? Every project is different and comes with unique challenges. We'll see how it all plays out.

If only Disney had a fan event where they could detail future plans at the resort, lol

I somewhat understand it but also it sucks to lose so much of DCA land with nothing to replace it

I know the land sucks but monster eats people, Philhare is a wonderful place to take a break in and normally they have a few meet and greet characters that good size lines there

It just sucks if this is going to take 4 years....like use the Disney Forward area. Its to me kinda insane they got the ok to use all this land and they are like first thing use up land with attractions on it....to make something instead?
Disney just seems to take its time with new projects compared to Disney before (I mean look at the year long work on Pixie Hollow) or Mr Lincoln being shut down for 16 months

I don't see Avatar being done till 2029-2030. It's going to take awhile

If you want to believe Disney's words, they expect all of these announced projects sometime by the end of 2029. Not the worst timeline for a beautiful project.

Fair enough on the DK comment

But I mean this ride....I think is a boat ride?

We will see but if its over 3 years its a bit much, Disney for sure has been building things slower now then in the past and universal for sure has been building things quicker

It's a complex ride system that requires a lot of foundation/infrastructure work. Let alone all the work that has to be done elsewhere in the resort to prep for crowds.

I think people are underestimating the complexity of this project. If they keep their word of 2029 target, starting in 2026... it's only a 3 year build. Impressive for a land that is expected to have really good rockwork and an impressive dark ride. The monorail doesn't seem to be moving, so they have to literally build around it.

Didn’t they say Avatar was still in early development so it seems they aren’t very far along in the design process.

Monsters Inc is gonna close February next year. Doubt they’re gonna close it and let it sit there.

I'm just extremely cautious about takes like this. We don't even know if we're getting a proper land with decent vistas like Animal Kingdom. While I don't think James Cameron will allow them to really skimp on the scenic quality, I genuinely still struggle to see how this will all fit together at the end of the day without taking the enclosed Super Mario/Donkey Kong approach at Universal, which I don't think would be as effective for this project.

But, as always, I would love to be wrong about everything...
