I was at Blizzard Beach today and suddenly the mountain for the first time is looking a little small in comparison to VB.

We travel with our best family friends a few times per year and we caught Iceland towards the beginning of whats now an all-out tourist blitz on the country. It's an amazingly beautiful place (especially during the summer) with close to 24 hours of daylight (it never really gets pitch black dark). It has hundreds, if not thousands, of stunning waterfalls, glaciers, volcanos, lava fields, martian-like landscapes one minute and glacier lagoons the next. By far our favorite trip ever. If you love the outdoors/nature, highly suggest you go. They're opening a new route from Miami for only $200 round trip starting in April, already planning a return trip.

Fun fact, Miami-Dade county has almost 8X more people than the entire country of Iceland.

Wow airlines I am guessing? The frontier airlines of international travel. You pretty much have to pay another $60 per person for bags though right?

You can see my room from there. I'll give you a wave, heading up in a few mins. On the 4th floor, look for 2 stacked red tubes against the window.

Cool, but sorry, I am home now. I will be back Thusday night...I guess I could end up in the same room again as I am at SF again in the same (basic) level of room, but I doubt they'll hold it for me.

So, for the Skybox slides twisting slides in the mountain, we're not looking at TurboTunnels, but ultra intense SuperLoops. As others have said, Ihu's Breakaway Falls at Aquatica are Superloops as well and those were amazing already. I just rode this SuperLoop at Hurricane Harbor and while "only 70 feet tall", it was long and ultra intense. The Orange/Yellow slide is the SuperLOOP and the Blue one a FreeFALL. In case you're wondering, they both replaced a single older slide.

^That is correct. Key difference between the Aquatica/Volcano Bay versions and every other one is that they are multi-directional. Standard Super Loop slides tend to drop into a downward helix - versus our Orlando slides that helix and slalom. The Aquatica ones were so fast that they would flip you around on your stomach during the ride. Given that the Volcano Bay ones are taller, I'd expect the same from these too.

Disney always have been a master of forced perspective. Speaking of which, will this be used for the top of the volcano?

I've never been on any of these slides but I've always imagined that it would be a little difficult to breath given the length of the ride and how intense the splashing would be inside a tube.

I don't have a clue. But at 20 stories high, how much does anything have to be forced? ;)

Correctamundo. Never flown them though, so I wouldn't know. We flew IcelandAir when we went.

Will this be the most expensive water park ever built when it opens?

If you bring your own entertainment, carry food on if you want food, and don't need any special customer service (God help you if you do), then it is a pretty good deal. I hear Iceland tourism is becoming so successful that they are starting to have real issues serving all of the tourists and having enough facilities at the national parks considering the small population over there.

As I was driving into the park today I realized that the new towers are now as tall as the buildings behind them.

I know, it's pretty bad. It was taken on my phone and it was a choice of focusing on the volcano and having it look like this or focus on the sky and have the foreground in darkness.
