Nah..let's be real. Nothing will keep Star Wars fans from Disney when that opens. The next biggest blow to Disney after Star Wars would be Universals 4th park. But as far as the water parks go, Volcano Bay will be King for a long while no doubt.

To me, I imagine Nintendo (if all the rumors of how it'll be used) could actually be the bigger Game-Changer between VB but hey; that would be my own opinion.

VB is similar in size to the WDW water parks, so I don't think it'll be botique but will be more high end experience. Plus they already stated it'll have freakin concierge service.

VB could be the big game changer, Disney isn't exactly gaining a reputation as a relaxing vacation, Universal might be doing the smart thing by putting this ultra-relaxing-looking park out there and really pushing the not waiting in lines thing.

I just find it so tough to believe that CBBR prices will stay around what they are now once VB opens. You'll be able to practically walk out of bed and into VB and with Sapphire next door, there's now close-by water service should one want it. And of course City walk and the parks is only about a 10 minute walk away.

Raising Cabana Bay prices can easily ruin the success it is having. Universal needs to differentiate themselves from Disney in that way. Yes they are close to Volcano Bay but they don't get the benefits of express pass etc.

I mean, the place is booked 100% occupancy pretty much year 'round. So much that they are adding 400 extra rooms virtually inside of the water park. If they want to raise the price a little (nothing crazy), i'm sure they could get away with it easily and still be booked solid.

Nice clear image of the rock work: (I have also noticed if you pause the video in the new promo you can see the back of the volcano is very open, looking like it has a lot going in and out of it which probably explains the lack of steel installed at the rear of the volcano...)

I don't think we'll see more than a $10-15 per night hike over the normal year over year increase.

This is the same size as the other water parks in the area, it has a theme like the other water parks in the area, while I am excited that it has some thrill rides, it is still a water park. It won't be priced as a theme park. If they do, it will be a mistake. People will just go elsewhere. While it is cool and probably worth an extra $10 a day, no way this is worth $50 more than the other water parks.

Also, I think it is a huge mistake to market it as a 3rd park. it is not a 3rd park. It is a water park and should be marketed as a water park. Tourist get sooooo confused over the simplest thing. Can you imagine them going to the "3rd theme park" and not realizing it is a water park?

Top of the volcano taking a lot more shape now and they are really cracking on with that rock work skin. I hate puzzles but if I were to have to do one it would be that!

It depends on amenities. If it offers more boutique offerings that are included within the price, then there probably will be a good-sized difference in price points.

As far as the theme park label; yes, they are embellishing it a bit - but by definition a theme park is "an amusement park with a unifying setting or idea." so they aren't wrong. I'd have no problem if Disney did so with their water parks as they've earned that title, so I'm going to give Universal the same break.

Come on now BriMan lets not resurrect the park label debate again. But I do agree entirely

Is it a Theme Park, Water Park or is it a Screenz Park. May as well do all the controversies at once & get them out of the way.

Yes, if it included certain things like food and drink, then a higher price point could be done. I agree with that.

I still think the theme park label is going to backfire on them a little. It is going to confuse people and when that happens people get upset because they were expecting one thing and got a different thing. I agree by definition it is a theme park, but I think there is a reason Disney separates them out as water parks and it is because they don't want the confusion.
