Interesting list. I like Poseidon's Fury also. Probably one of the best facades in existence. Nice queue. The show is fun if the guide is good. Water vortex is amazing.

I like it a lot because it just feels so different from anything else in either park.

It loses me on the finale, but I agree. If they just re-worked it to be less corny, I think it'd move up a lot of lists.

Yes, I agree. Though some actors play it less corny, and more dramatic then others. My only really bad experience, was on my first time, when the actress played the role so corny that she became obnoxious. All the actors, since then, have put the corn routine in the background, and played it more of a straight type style.

I don't think I've ever had a bad - or even lackluster - guide. Most have seemed to catch the exact right pitch of having a fun sort of delivery without going over-the-top.

Thanks to @BJCool for helping me..

Christie Digital has officially partnered with Universal Park's and Resorts for delivering the latest in Projection based technology.

Cypress, CA, USA (July 19, 2016) – Universal Parks & Resorts has entered into a corporate partnership agreement with Christie®, which will see Christie delivering the latest projection technologies to Universal Parks & Resorts as the Official Projection System Provider. The agreement includes Universal Parks & Resorts’ Theme Parks and CityWalk complexes throughout the United States.

As a Universal Parks & Resorts corporate partner, Christie will be the preferred partner for projectors ordered, purchased, and installed by Universal Parks & Resorts at all domestic controlled venues. Christie will also supply software and professional services in addition to projection technology to Universal Parks & Resorts, helping create customized projection solutions for future attractions.

“Universal Parks & Resorts continues to push the limits of technology and innovation, and Christie is honored to have this long-term opportunity to bring its extensive technology and service resources to bear to support the Universal Parks & Resorts’ Theme Parks and CityWalk venues,” said Jeff Klaas, Christie’s Vice President of Sales – Americas.

As a former theater projectionist, I wholeheartedly endorse this. Christie makes some of the best theatrical projection equipment (for screenz of all types!)

it is sad for me to say that, the only theater projection room I have ever been in used a carbon arc system. That is kind of welding behind the film to light up the screen. I am not joking.

When I saw the original Star Wars, it was from a carbon arc projector.

One of the smaller chain cinemas near me uses Christie projectors in all of their individual theaters. It always has a clean, crisp look compared to the Dolby projectors at my local AMC and Regal.

Huh, that's an interesting partnership. Aren't these corporate partnerships mostly done for the sake of advertising? Universal advertises Christie projectors in exchange for a discount?

But, Christie doesn't sell consumer projectors...

CEO and other people visit the parks too. Especially conventions. The thing is Universal gets a discount and Christie projectors gets a big name person to use their stuff. This will entice other companies to switch to them. Especially if a CEO rides one of the rides and then sees how good they are and brings that back to their company. Doesn't even need to be a CEO, it could be a VP or even a manager.

Well, now I know while I'll be more active on these forums in 2017.

I'm bummed, man.:( Literally found out about this on this forum. Here I thought it was just because F&F was delayed.

Good for Christie I suppose. I hope their technicians are as well trained as Dolby's.

What does this new deal mean for the already installed screens and projectors? Will they do maintenance on them until they need replaced or could resort wide replacement be happening sooner than expected?

The projectors in the parks work under a lease with a separate maintenance agreement. I'm expecting the lease to be terminated once maintenance is needed, because per-the-contract only technicians from the uh...projector company...can perform maintenance on them. When that happens I expect them to be replaced with the Christie projectors. Seems kind of wasteful to me though, since some of the projectors at the parks are new and not yet installed.

I wonder if it will mean anything as far as the Cineplex goes. I know I wouldn't want my competition's projectors just outside the parks.
