Also worth to note that Nintendo has a six-months earning call on the 5th of November, which could or could not be a coincidence:

Same account now seems convinced that because of a Kansai resident discount, 2025 is looking more likely. Unbelievable that this ride will likely have a one year delay :sob:

How is that unbelievable when it’s a brand new ride system ?

I'm sure the new ride system is a part of it, but it is a little odd that the kinks haven't been worked out when we have five year old footage of them testing this exact system.

Rise also suffered a several month delay, but that ride is by far more complex than DK and part of the delays stemmed from Disney having to rip up the entire floor of the attraction.

Don't know what Universal's excuse is if this ride system was being tested for 5 years. Maybe some element didn't pan out like they though it would

A test track slash proof of concept to see if the ride system works is different than a coaster that actually has dark ride elements that all have to be synced together while providing a safe ride for riders.

If show elements aren't working in sync based on tomfoolery's post alluding to electric systems issues previously and properly for a 3rd party IP, it is better for Universal to delay and work out kinks than piss of their partner who is allowing universal to rack in the dollars.

Just been to USJ today and could see it cycling with the smoke on. Gutted I’ve not managed to get a ride as it’s going to be many years before I make it back here

I’m going to echo @quinnmac000 here and say that a quick looping test of a ride system at a manufacturer’s facility, on a flat piece of land with nothing else integrated into it, is a very different animal compared to the installation of a ride. It’s possible they are having issues with sensors on the attraction that aren’t activating show scenes in the correct way. It’s possible there are programming errors when dispatching the amount of trains they need to hit their THRC. It’s also possible block sections are an issue, or there’s an issue preventing them to work as they are intended.

In short, there are just a lot more factors in play when the show is being installed rather than a big mockup to prove the technology works. Space Mountain in Paris was one of these cases, that I heard from Tim Delaney. The field is very different than the testing ground, essentially. It’s not exactly fair to blame Universal and say they don’t have an excuse for these problems.

Edit: I will say that’s where computer modeling and the like have come in handy when it comes to theme park design (to weed out a lot of problems before the construction phase). But even then you’re still not in the real world, and you’re always bound to have to troubleshoot things on the install.

This is a prime example of why I'm avoiding going to Epic during their first opening months. With so many new ride systems (Epic is not a park comprised mostly of clones like Beijing and Shanghai), there's a fairly high probability that there will be technical issues causing lots of breakdowns. That's kind of the downside of having a new park with mostly new stuff, not clones. Epic will surely be a great park, but it might not be so great it's first three or four months.

Without making this thread about Epic Universe, you’re not wrong. Look at USF and their opening day problems with a lot of new, and untested, rides that debuted. Jaws is one that comes to mind. I think BTTF was delayed as well?

It’s a bummer that they are experiencing these problems in Osaka, for an attraction nearly everyone is waiting to see in action, but it was almost an inevitability that they would arise at some point or another during install. I definitely feel for the crew out there. Engineers are probably working like crazy to go over and fix these issues, and the field art folks are probably getting antsy, haha.

10 min just of this mini land? I expect a lot of spoilers. I am excited to see what the offerings are though! Hopefully an opening date as well.
