Construction on TSL starts the beginning of Oct. And should be finished by May 2017.

Sad to think that it could have started October of last year and been open by May 2016*

So I assume that LMA isn't long for this world then? Because from what everyone is saying at Magic, this expansion will have to take up the LMA practice area, ultimately shutting down the show. Plus buildings need to be moved, land needs to be cleared, etc.

That will be the hardest part of this project imo. It's going to take them awhile to actually get going on any actual construction because there's so much that needs to be done backstage. I'm not sure why they closed the BLT last fall and just let it sit there, the least they could've done was move Costuming out of there and start moving buildings around if they knew that was going to be expansion space.

It wasn't green lit until recently. And to be honest, they wanted the park to be in really bad shape while touring the board around and begging for close to $3 BILLION.

It just feels like Disney is all talk and not actually working on this stuff. Avatar announced in 2011 should have opened this year or next year and the DHS overhaul should have been announced 2 years ago. Uni is on the hypothetical Round 3 of expansion while Disney has literally announced their hypothetical Round 1. SeaWorld is in the blue sky phase of round 0 in case you were wondering.

Like it's gonna be a good finished product, it's just the wait is always the setback. If universal had the rights to Star Wars land with this same exact concept, chances are they would start working months ago and it would've came out at 2017 at the latest. Idk what it is, indecisive imagineers, the complexity, budget or slow comstruction workers but something seriously needs to be fixed about this. Just miserable

It's the Disney bean counters. They like to spread projects over a long time.

Why am I not surprised? 2.5 years. That's how long it took to build Diagon Alley.

Nah. WDI has their share of issues, but the timetable thing isn't on them

The only delay that I understand is Avatar. As we all said at the time, what a pisser to have that tossed at you out of left field, complete with John Cameron.

The sense that I have had is the shareholders of Disney don't appreciate having so much money tossed at the parks, that the board doesn't want to risk upsetting them. Perhaps that is bosch.

Potentially the same year as Nintendoland? That should be interesting.

There's a new Onion article about Star Wars "land" Disney Adding ‘Star Wars’ Attractions To Parks - The Onion - America's Finest News Source

Nice quotes like:

“This will be the perfect place to take my son for his 45th birthday.” and “Now I can fulfill my dream of using the Millennium Falcon’s bathroom before I die.”

I wonder if that is starting fade considering Universal's ROI from their parks.

If true, then not necessarily. Greed had them wanting to squeeze every last nickle out of WDW without adding a thing. Kind of like Universal's previous owners. It seems that perhaps they have since seen Comcast's statements and had a V8 moment of their own. Greedy short sighted idiots.

BTW, I believe that it was DisneyHead that posted this or similar info a few years ago. If not, I hope he will correct me. :)

Yes, short term that is great...long term the business starts to loose more and more people that are fed up

It'd be great if that were true as it would finally get them in motion... but they've been playing this game since 9/11 and the attendance just keeps growing.
