Supposedly the big shots at Team Disney Orlando thought that Orlando was a mature market that had little upward potential. They sure have been proven wrong.

While I personally believe this will come to pass in some way, shape or form at DHS and DL, I'd just like to take a moment to remind everyone about all the other concepts Disney has put out in the past that were going to be built and never did...

You're absolutely crazy if you think Star Wars Land isn't getting built. The public reaction toward cancelling the project would be unlike anything we've seen before. This is their Potter.

Anyone know whats going to be happening with Star Tours? I can see them integrating it into the new land with a new facade and takeoff/landing sequences. Although, this couldn't work for the one at Disneyland. That one's the real mystery.

It's staying. DHS should be easy to incorporate. Looks like DL may have no choice but leave them seperate.

Also, the ride will be getting an update to add Episode 7 scene

Now that I think about it, won't the Iron Man Experience at HKDL use a very similar ride system to Star Tours. Maybe DL will get that as a replacement.

The sad part is the Toy Story Playlands in Paris and Hong Kong both probably took about a year to construct, which is about how long it looks like it would take. They're about as well-themed as a wing at an All-Star Movies Resort. There's no reason for this to take longer than 2017 that isn't purely fiscal. The mouse needs to stop doing such a great job of reminding fans that's what "the magic" is all about.

Let's see how fast they move once they get started. LOTS of deconstruction needs to happen first. I personally think it will be open for 2017, but we'll just have to wait and see.

I've found it quite interesting the way different medias have run this expansion story. I was listen to a talk radio show today (that covers a big area of south east FL)...I only caught a small part of the show and sometimes it is hard to tell when they are joking...I mean they were talking about 'Pandora' coming to UOR and then talking about Star Wars being its own park...I was just a little taking by how bad the info they were giving was.

But then they took a call from someone who claimed to know all the details. I was shocked that they let this guy tell all this mis-information to such a large listening base...anyway, this caller stated he was there at D23 in Orlando and they were wrong about D23 being out West. The guy then goes on to say that the Toy Story stuff will open in 2016, that Star Wars will open in 2017, and then for 2018, a new park will open with every old ride that has been removed from all the Disney parks...

What's the station? I'd love to call in and tell them about my favorite ride, Dick Tracy's Crime Stoppers.

It's Paul and Young Ron, I think they run on around three or four Clear Channel stations down here..I'm pretty sure they are on iHeart Radio...I hadn't listen to them in some time, but I think they mainly take calls on 'open phones Friday'...if their format hasn't changed...so it may have all been some brilliant comedy routine

Why would you or anyone listen to such a station that just says any old junk they can make up?

It'd be great if that were true as it would finally get them in motion... but they've been playing this game since 9/11 and the attendance just keeps growing.

TEA's reports on attendance keep saying Disney keeps growing and growing. Big difference. ;)

I know that's the plan, but it has to be replaced with something. Also, now that I think about it the Iron Man Experience at HKDL is completely based in Hong Kong so it would require more than just cloning the ride here in the Star Tours simulators if that did happen (which I agree is doubtful).

I seriously doubt they would keep the Star Tours ride when they finish Star Wars Land. I can't be the only one who sees them closing it. I would think it would be confusing to the every day guest at the least.

Something Seth K brought up on the podcast tonight was that they could keep Star Tours and it's "flights to other planets" theme. Heck, just list this new planet in the preshow areas and tease it.

If they were truly hurting up until recently, then they wouldn't have sat on their hands for so many years.

The TEA just makes up those numbers. They are guesses and have been completely off in recent years. While it is true the entire market in Central Florida has grown in the last 5 years, the market share that Disney takes in has been getting less and less. Particularly at DHS and Animal Kingdom. The TEA numbers, however, don't show that at all. And they show places like IOA with no attendance gain in the past year which is patently false. Sites like this and others should stop reporting those numbers until TEA reveals the methods they use for collection and verification.

Apparently, you've never listened to talk radio.

This is where conservatives get their news.

Entertainment I guess, some nostalgia...these guys have been on the air a real long time. I really hadn't listened to them in a few years. I do tend to either listen to some cd's or NPR, but just felt like something different today.

I'm guess they have changed to keep more current and I imagine they were just having fun as it made no sense to me the stuff they were saying about the Disney announcement, but I guess they never claimed to be a news show.
