I'm guess they have changed to keep more current and I imagine they were just having fun as it made no sense to me the stuff they were saying about the Disney announcement, but I guess they never claimed to be a news show.

If it was all a joke, they're playing to a really niche market, and a market they've never really catered to before.

I believe it's general misinformation. Honestly, the general public doesn't really care about specifics in the theme park world. All they know is that it's happening and they should visit Disney World as soon as possible because it might be open when they get there!!!

Whatever happens, I hope that WDW really puts as much down as possible to compete with WWOHP. I don't like the idea that while the concept art is promising, the actual product could be severely disappointing/cut back (I fell the same way towards Avatar too). I really want this to be a reason to visit the park.

They really need to nail this, both to really show they're willing and competent enough to properly compete, but also to properly handle an IP with what could be very rabid fans if certain things are mishandled.

Depends which way they go with it. If they go into the parking lot, then no. If they go down Streets of America, then yes. I personally like the idea of going into the parking lot more as it's actually EXPANDING the boundaries of the park.

I've heard the parking lot is the more likely choice at this point. This is what 14 acres could look like extended into the parking lot:

Profit? Pushing off major issues to the next guy? DVC income? Saving face to pick up a nice cushy job when Iger leaves and house is cleaned?

Remember that SW is all post Iger.

You can't say SW is post-Iger as it was developed under him. It's like saying Expedition Everest was an Iger idea because it opened under him, even though Michael Eisner was in charge when it was developed.

And i'll put it on the record that I don't think Wall Street is going to let Iger go easily. They want him to stay.

Let me clarify, SW is post Iger in capital expenditure.

It's staying. DHS should be easy to incorporate. Looks like DL may have no choice but leave them seperate.

Also, the ride will be getting an update to add Episode 7 scene

Has it ever been firmly established that Star Tours is not the second "mystery ride" alluded to over the weekend? The update to Episode VII certainly implies it's staying put--but three screen-based starship simulators in a row would have to feel like overkill even to the general public.

If that's the case--one simulator ride (albeit in the coolest shell imaginable) with some shopping and dining taking 5 -6 years to build is unfathomable to me. Leaving a half-decade of money on the table.

I'm not convinced the ride revolving around the battle between the First Order and the Resistance is a simulator.

As a big fan of Star Wars, I just hope this new "planet" with no name is relevant to the new saga, just like Tatooine or Naboo was for the preview ones. Because alike Tatooine buildings over some alike Endor woods grounds and maybe an alike Dagobah swampy vine here and there does not scream original.

It's very clearly an amalgam of familiar architecture and looks to make a "new" area. I don't think the planet will be in the new movies, it's just for the parks

:( Well that's a bummer, just a generic land then. Well it's better than nothing I guess. It would've been awesome to have a known planet and even better if they build a different planet/environment in each park... Same rides and main idea or layout, but a different wraping paper. Like SWL Orlando-Tatooine, SWL California- Endor and go from there.

The problem is, besides maybe Tatooine, which would be a super uncomfortable land to be in, none of the Star Wars planets are all that fully fleshed out. This allows them to build a bunch of signature Star Wars stuff with their own spin on it and have it all make sense next to one another.

LOL i do agree about Tatooine. I get what you are saying, and it makes sense. You should've seen my face when I opened the pic for the very first time. I felt completely lost for a split second and I honestly thought I opened the wrong pic until my brain recognized the Millenium Falcon that's when I knew I was on the right pic and then confusion took over again "Wait, what planet is it?..... Wait, what is this?"

Local Positioning System.

Basically a trackless dark ride that puts you in a battle between Stormtroopers and the Rebels.

So like a Mystic Manor ride but with Storm Troopers and Light Sabers? This could be amazing if done right.
