Goodbye, Rex. :embarassed:

From what I heard, Rex will be there. I could be wrong --- but I thought I remember someone asking about Rex at the Disney Attractions panel at CV, and the answer give was something like "Let's put it this way -- the current version will no longer be Rex's first flight". I took that to mean, since ST 2.0 takes place before ST 1.0, we'll be seeing Rex again.

All attractions have some sort of tribute to the former that was in the same location. I'm sure there will be a few bones thrown towards 1.0.

Just watched the video. The Alderaan safest planet in the galaxy part was a good laugh. Will we see the Death Star on that trip?

I hope they fix the whole "tour guides/assistants" who wear lightsabers. Only the Jedi can wear them! Fix it, Lucas!

I hope they revamp it and make it alot more modern. It has a good purpose but needs to be carried out better imo.

That's weird - I read the info on the D23 event on a Star Wars forum, and in the process instructions it mentioned picking up a commemorative boarding pass at the front gate? I'll find the link when I'm not doing this from my iPhone. I remember reading it and being irked that we didn't get that at the Last Tour event

That kind of sucks, they have the stormtroopers and everything, yet they don't give a commerative ticket? Isn't that customary in Disney for all closing attractions?

Those commerotive tickets were from the D23 Five dollar event. Not sure if that is that is what Beatlejuice went to or not.

Also I am hoping really badly that Star Tours is not just going to become a big inside prequel joke to the original. Even if Ic an handle the new theming and concepts for travel...I dont want the entire thing to be just joke after joke of "Oh that is why Rex was like that in the original Star Tours and OH that is why that happened in the old ride" ect..ect..

That would really be stupid to overdo considering the basis for that humor would no longer be availible and go over too many heads to imagine.

Was there a Rancor encounter in the original? I've only been on it once in 2000 . Because if not, rancors would be an awesome idea for thrills in my opinion.

No I didn't go to that event. I didn't even know about that event until now and now what I thought was an accomplished goal is no longer technically accomplished :(

Nah you did in my book anyway, you were of the last to actually ride it without paying an undeeded special admission price to an after event that was just a quick way to drain as much as possible. You were the last GP day guest to ride Star Tours.

Ahhh my mistake brother, I thought you were saying you were at the D23 event! And yeah man, it totally counts as being the last of general public to ride! I'd be willing to bet, in fact, that cast members probably rode after the D23 peeps left  but out of that whole group, actual park guests are what really counts...

Even though it was categorized for Disneyland, I'm sure it applies to Orlando as well. From Screamscape:

(9/9/10) According to the latest reports, John Williams apparently turned down the offer to score the new Star Tours II ride film. This isn’t unusual however, as apparently he turned down offers to do Star Tours I as well as the Indiana Jones attractions. Instead Michael Giacchino has been tapped to create the musical score for the new attraction, and will keep the signature Star Tours theme intact. You can find Michael’s vast resume of previous work here.

It seems really strange since wasn't he the one who composed the musical score for Forbidden Journey?

Giacchino just won an Oscar for Up's score (well deserved). Hopefully he'll be able to tap into Williams' iconic score....
