It's the nature of experiencing something for the first time on your phone or computer screen, and why I won't watch a video. You can't really experience something like the 360 scenes unless you're there

Do you guys think it will be soft opened tomorrow (Saturday)? Will it be open today? and what time of the day would be a good guess to be operating?

Bri said to move all discussions over hear. Jwhee is reviewing but he's also discussing the speculation and Schmosby definitely should be here since he's just speculating like the rest of us. I'm comfortable with both being here.

I must've missed where Bri said that, but it also doesn't make much sense with what they said leading up softs/creation of the review thread.

People were clamoring for a Spoiler thread here for months and we only just got one *maybe* a week ago. We were constantly told the spoiler thread begins when softs begin. Well, softs have begun and people are talking all about the ride and their reviews in a thread that was labeled no spoiler less than 24 hours ago.

TM previews are scheduled for 4-6, we're looking at 6 PM if softs happen tonight.

EDIT: That's still yesterday's listing, looks like they could start earlier.

I wonder how this ride compares to the original in people's minds (who rode both.)

A spoiler thread was created without our knowledge. We stayed at that time the two threads would be merged and a reviews thread started.

Haven't ridden or watched the new one, but I can't imagine it being worse. KF was great, but outside of the Kong encounters, there was a lot of dead/wasted space.

Just noticed that the torch fire does rise up the closer you get to the gates. I have had it in my head that it would throw up a billowing flame but I guess not. It just gets more juice and taller.

I think a lot of people will reminisce of Old Kong when they see the new AA. I heard a few people during our 2 rides say something along the lines of "They brought him back!" during that scene. So I think for that AA alone, the general public who remember KF will be happy.

BUT - it is hard to compare the 2 since they are completely different settings and stories (and obviously methods of ride experience)

In my opinion the outside portions of the new one and the inside portions of the old ride with just the one 360 scene from the new one would be the ultimate Kong attraction. Obviously that wouldn't work thematically. I would be kind of torn to choose between the two as is I guess for me they are equal.

People have a love affair with it for some reason...Jaws was a bigger loss IMO

Also, keep in mind that Universal is still trying to shake the "Thrill ride only" identity people have given it..I would expect them to keep pumping out attractions that everyone in the whole family can ride for the next few years

It's cool. I personally don't care much as i'll (hopefully) be on the ride today or this weekend. I just think with the ride not open officially and all conversation resorted to this thread, if anyone not living here was wanting to continue to follow progress on this site without spoilers, there's no real way to do that now.

Because that's what Mike West told multiple groups would happen at that scene. A burst of flame and the gates swing open.

Then inside the doors slam shut as a blast of icy air douses the torches and the chanting turns into the sound of a heartbeat.

It doesn't seem to play out that way at all, but that's how he described it to sell it.

It's relatively close to the truck and the surrounding foliage...I expected a billow as well, but I can see why they opted out for something a little more controlled.

Did a quick skip through the video so obviously I'm not going to judge an entire ride by a YouTube POV. That's just silly.

I'm seeing some talk about the interaction with the Kong AA as awkward of disjointed. "Why isn't he more aggressive. He just sits there and is your buddy." Didn't he just save everyone in the vehicle? Why would knock it around or act aggressive?

Super stoked for Monday or Tuesday (whenever I decide to go) so I can finally join you all and experience this beast.

Neither are losses, IMO. Both were replaced by a good-to-great (Mummy) project or a freaking legendary project (Diagon).

The queue doesn't seem to go along with that mission. Seems like more physical movement on the ride would complement the tone of the queue.

I dare say that perhaps UC was opting for a "you decide" type ending...where you make the call on whether he is a friend or a foe to us..Maybe I'm reading too much into it..But I think it is intentional

For sure! I wish all could co-exist together but I understand the space issue..Diagon is jaw dropping and Mummy is one of my favorite Studio rides..I just meant I wasn't a huge fan of Kongfrontation and didn't see what everyone found so jaw dropping about it (besides the AA)

Problem was some of the same conversations were happening across both threads, just one had Spoilers.

I'm ok if someone had questions in the Review thread, I was just trying to avoid those convos that spiral into 2-3 pages of irrelevant debates or get off-topic; or even the simple "Thanks". I want that thread basically all business.
