Okay Universal... now you officially own Shrek,... you have no excuse NOT to give us a "Shrek The Halls" overlay during the holiday season.
......or "Scared Shrekless" during the haunt season.

Personally; it leads me hoping that this will finally be the catalyst to remove Shrek 4D two to three years down the line, similar thoughts for UO's iteration of it too.

Nah. They wouldn't even replace it when they were shelling out money for the license, and now they own it. It's staying for the time being.

I'm not exactly saying of getting rid of DreamWorks from the parks completely (I believe Orlando especially will benefit in the years to come). I'm saying to remove Shrek 4D, and for Hollywoods case; to replace it with something that has a much higher capacity and still being based of something else from DreamWorks.

Point still stands. That is a tight space, Shrek is arguably DWA's most popular franchise, and the attraction is still popular. Shrek 4D is staying put right now.

I didn't get a pic while at the park and did this attraction (yes.. I did it), but I have to say I LOVE the new trees/greenery they added to the queue back behind the building. It looked great. I really wish they'd remove the overflow queue awning & create more woods-like scenic queue instead. Sure they might need that queue space "IF" the park gets packed during the summer, but you can still have A LOT of queue space even with some added greenery to make it "look" better. It'd definitely improve the view from Hippo.

Also.. I sat towards the back of the theatre, not completely in the back, but like middle-ish back. And yea, I found the new "lighting effects" to be completely unnecessary & quite distracting. I don't like the lighting at all. I'd also rather get sprayed with more water & have less "bumpy road" seat effects haha.

Oh yea, can we has a candy/gingerbread scent for the gingerbread house scene please? :P

I think the lighting looks good. Projection is crystal and sounds good. It's just a crappy movie. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I didn't say the lighting didn't look good, its just that I found it distracting. And at times, made the theatre too bright for a screen-based attraction. Its not as bad if you're closer to the screen, but when towards the back of the theatre its way too noticeable (at least for me).

Bring out your sour faces and your sad trumpets: as a part of Universal's DWA acquisiton, it seems that the animation company is looking to bring "Shrek 5", a nostalga-driven reboot of the franchise to theaters in 2019: http://screenrant.com/shrek-5-release-date-2019-shadows/

They've already discussed efforts to revive the Shrek franchise and of course this means keep its crusty ogre heart beating in the theme parks themselves. So could this mean another three to four years at the very least of Shrek 4D haunting the old Panasonic Theatre or do we think it's possible that this could bring about a refreshed, new Shrek attraction?

Myself, I think Universal will definitely wait. If the Shrek reboot is as big of a deal as they can get it to be, then that may give them an incentive to do something new. However, if it's a bust then that could mean the long-awaited closure of the attraction. Either way, looks like there will be more time to wait it out.

Bummer.

Welp. Just when we thought it was Ogre. I'm so sick of Shrek, I'm turning green.

With the 5th Shrek movie (hooray...) I hope to see a new movie in the theater. I doubt that they would get rid of Shrek 4D because of the new movie and somehow manages to bring in tons of people everyday, even though most people I have seen and talked to who have been on the ride want it out. (The line stretches out so far, and I have no idea why people are tricked by this attraction!)

I may be wrong, but they may have something in the Contract that causes issues if Shrek were to be removed. And also, It underwent a massive overhaul of its exterior line, received major changes to the theater in many ways; and added a full on Mural onto the building's side facing WWoHP. If anything, I would expect Shrek 4D to be staying around for a long time, much like Waterworld and the refurbishment from 2014 (and the massive 2017 refurbishment which could give more to the life-span of the IP's stay at the park).

Contract, Universal owns Dreamworks. Plus I personally don't think the Shrek idea will last much longer instead it will be rethemed maybe into How to Train your Dragon

What I mean is, there could be still a contract in-place that has to still go through; regardless of the NBCU/Comcast DWA accquisition allowing them to have the animation division of Dreamworks.

It should be replaced, it's pretty dated. They need to fix some of the chair as they do not move as much, it felt like a slow walk not even a trot.

Maybe they're not going to fix the chairs because the attraction won't be here in 12 months? That's stretching it I know, but food for thought.

There were construction walls today around the stroller parking area, and covering the wait time sign. Anyone have any idea what that was about?

Its a sign.... I'm kidding of course. My guess is repaving or because of the new piping. I'm sure I'm wrong though.
