I got my ticket during the 2nd pre-sale

I splurged for the "evil express" which completely bypasses the line. I was originally going to just do regular "express", but decided to guarantee "more time" to experience everything.

Okay so actual ticket for Dark Harbor acquired easily. Today had sent a link to access the ticketing page to "redeem your voucher".

What was interesting is you chose a "timed entry", but the earliest time was 8pm. However, $10 upcharge, you can get "early entry" (allowing me to enter at 7pm).

There were a bunch of "upcharge experiences", including the cabanas & VIP "upgrades".

Without the presale voucher code, you'd end up paying for your ticket a 2nd time. The code counts as a "discount", once applied, I only had to pay the $10 for "early entry".

I'll be going Wednesday, Oct 9th 2024.

Glad to see it’s more than 4 mazes. Should be a great return to horror.

9/21/24 Review

I went through all five mazes and it’s vital that you use early entry unless you have fast lane to get through each maze.

Pros: Early Entry, off-site shuttle, 3 of 5 mazes on the ship, majority of the mazes are lengthy
Cons: Lack of scare actors in mazes, food/alcohol prices, waiting for several mazes to open after 8 pm, anti-climatic maze endings

Maze rankings
Infirmary
Lullaby
Feast
Big Top Terror
Breakout/On The Run

I went to Shaqtoberfest last year and several of the mazes reminded me of an adult version of what I experienced. Some of the mazes were placed in the same area as the ones from Shaqtoberfest so I could tell they didn’t change much except the facade. The three mazes on the ship reminded me of QMDH in 2018/2019.

Breakout/On The Run has the chance to be the best maze at the event by the end of the season but it really needs more scare actors.
Overall, I had a good time but the event definitely needs to make some adjustments if they want the event to be successful.

I’m not gonna grade them on a hard scale since it’s their first event in 5 years.

B-/C+

I went on Saturday. This is not the Dark Harbor of old -- not even remotely close. But it doesn't feel like haunt season without a visit to the Queen Mary so I was happy to be there either way. Felt the same way when it was Shaqtoberfest.

13th Floor just continues to disappoint. Both Dark Harbor and LAHH deserve better.

I was also there Saturday and… it’s fine. Some fun stuff on the ship and the couple of little shows they did on dry land were a nice diversion. But, like seemingly every haunt this year, staffing was an issue.

And charging $17 for canned beer should be a crime. Alas, these are the times we live in.

Oh boy... so a friend of mine had gotten a ticket to go, but due to unforseen circumstances out of their control (family emergency), they can no longer go. Unfortunately they're unable to choose a different date due to prior commitments & work. He emailed their customer service & this was their response after 2 days:

"Hello Derek,

As our ticketing policy states, all ticket sales are final. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Happy Haunting,

Dark Harbor Support"

So yea, now he's out $100. This is how you burn your customer bridges. At least Universal makes an effort to work with guests due to the unpredictable hurricane season. The least they could've done is offer a Queen Mary tour for option for a day he could go. *sigh*

Anyway, I'll be going Wednesday (and most of the cast/crew of LAHH.... woo! Takeover!). I've got the VIP ticket, so is it possible to do everything & dip by 10pm?

Is there any haunt that would give a full refund rather than offer a ticket exchange? I agree it’s a bummer, but this seems like standard industry practice to me.

No idea. Unless it was specific circumstances. I always wonder the "What If" for those traveling out of state (or country) to attend an event & there's a flight issue or something unexpected.

Yes, there's an industry standard of no refunds or even partial, but maybe it needs to change? Cancel up until 24/48hrs prior?

My expectations are being kept low. And thankfully I'm not a beer drinker so I can avoid the $17 beer can :eyes:
