I personally have no interest until the coaster is open. I think opening the “show” first could actually backfire if it doesn’t deliver and the coaster isn’t there to support the land’s necessity.

The problem with putting a show in the old muppet theater is that it will be endlessly compared to what came before it. With a meet and greet or complete tear down , at least you’re avoiding the eventual disappointment.

That's the path Disney chose, though. It would be even more egregious to have lost Muppet*Vision for nothing (I know meet-and-greets have their place... but they're simply not attractions).

So now it has to be a great show (which, really, should be our expectation for anything they do).

The recent Zootopia show and the previous monsters laughing floor show make me a little concerned

The new Mermaid show at DHS is terrific and the new DHS Villains show is better than I expected.

Yeah, I’d much rather them open this in phases than wait to open it all in 2028.

It would certainly be a better reveal and any shortcoming could be corrected with something that overdelivers “yeah, the coaster isn’t as intense as I thought but the octopus animatronic in Harry’s is amazing”

They’ll be held to their own strengths and weaknesses now.

But if we remove that facade and look at it rationally, we’re just getting back what we lost in terms of checking boxes until the expansion portion (coaster) comes anyway.

This would be an insane approach for Disney or anyone to take. You don’t tear down a theater in fear the show replacing it not being as good. You simply change the show.

Shows change and can be revamped easily. There is zero reason to have torn down a perfectly functional theater space.

And for a meet and greet suggestion, no less?
That’s disappointing.

Just think they’re setting themselves up for failure. I feel like I’d rather the band aid be ripped off then something trying to take its place.

But yes… a new theater show is definitely better than a meet and greet (aka the princess meet and greet at MK)

I absolutely agree.

Hate the approach they are taking but I understand the reasoning.

I’m not too nervous about the shoe because I believe it’s gonna be funny and make audiences happy.

I think that that Monsters Inc. Land is going to be a massive hit. I feel like this is the best executed land being developed by Disney right now. Good location and massively themed to a very popular IP. The coaster is very different from anything Disney has ever done. This land and coaster feel like a Tokyo type addition which is very cool.

Also Disney is going out of the way to even address sightline concerns by adding those extra facades.

That goes to show they have been paying to the fandom.

I think the inclusion of the Harryhausen's restaurant especially with the animatronic sushi chef is going to be incredible theming. Fingers crossed for a wide variety of sushi options!

The Monstropolis overlay sounds nice. A second smaller ride similar to what they did for Piston Peak or a Ride and Go Seek type dark ride would've rounded the area out.

I'm curious as to how intense the door coaster will be if you go up 40 feet in 4 seconds. 42" or 44" height requirement would make sense as it doesn't seem like it'll go faster than RNRC or require more restrictive restraints.
