Looks like the first four permits for this year’s houses were filed last week:

Netflix just announced that they're working on a Bioshock film. Maybe we'll finally get a house.

Was gonna post about this in the Wishlist thread. From what I understand it's only in early pre-production, don't think they've even landed a Director yet. Maybe the following year but I highly doubt it's this years'

I know lmao. I'm just really happy that it's actually a possibility it could finally be at the event in the near future.

Fully agreed, I can see a property like DS or AoT being a very expensive house due to the number of sets, props, costumes having to be made the from the ground up.

Re: “Icon/Loose Theme” for this year (I might have made this point about 50 pages ago), but after all the Eddie business last year I feel like that’s the path of least resistance, especially considering that most of our speculation this year (for an event still six-ish months away, mind you, but definitely the time when people start asking for days off at work) is about movies.

Reasons Why I Believe Eddie Comes Back:

1. He’s hot. Marketing probably thinks he’s the second-best choice for an Icon for this reason. Before we get into this: While I know that a lot of the fan base has an issue with the “objectification” of the Icons, I’d argue that Lady Luck is literally a siren character that is meant to be sexy until she “transforms”, which is the gimmick. At least a few variations of Chance are also meant to be alluring, and even after her emancipation from Jack, she used some of her “innocent“ coercive tactics to lead a mad rebellion in a prison.

As a gay man, I’ll just say that Eddie is hot and probably designed to be so. And having lived in Orlando, I can imagine a lot of regular attendees of HHN will agree. And frankly, I can see marketing really appreciating this kind of character being put on billboards and t-shirts rather than an elderly man. I also imagine the Merch team could have fun with this, and he will probably sell more Merch than most other icons.

2. Speaking of merch, he didn’t have a whole lot of single-character Merch last year. That means, more returning guests will appreciate merch diversity this year.

3. He’s a legacy character related to Jack, which many of us super-die-hard fans would enjoy learning more about. It’s just a small contingent, but possibly the highest spenders, especially when it comes to multi-night passes.

4. Those that say that big unifying themes loosely tying UO events together are dead, last year’s event, the tribute stores, Earl the Squirrel, and “Planet Mardi Gras” would have a word. Someone who would approve spending on an Earl the Squirrel walk-around character is currently approving event budgets, so I don’t think it’s such a leap to believe a unifying theme could come this year.

5. If this year is mostly about IP and Movies, it would make sense to have a “Movie Buff” host the event as they’ve done with Director and Usher to drape a loose connective tissue across any incoming IP. Marathon of Mayhem writes itself. So do the originals (Run, extrapolate one or two of the streets featured in last year’s zone into a Trick ‘R’ Treatment).

6. The rumors of last night mayhem at the end of 30 (Eddie “killing Jack”).

Please let me know if this is obvious/dead-horse-beating, but after seeing the Earl walk-around I began to realize that there really is money in Uni going towards fan service.

As much as I want to see Eddie become an official icon, it's never gonna happen. He's not as marketable as Jack.

Eddie would be cool, but the only icon that has the slightest chance of returning this year would be Caretaker.

Consider me interested. Like others have said he had a surprising amount of "screen-time" last year. Most appearances of any character in Icons Captured, the namedrop in Puppet Theater's Facade, and I could've sworn they mentioned him in the 30 Years Audio incredibly frequently. All that being said if an og Icon is coming back I too would suspect The Caretaker...and that's not just because he's my favorite and i would kill to see him return

Hoping this year they use a brand new icon (pumpkin lord) I know this had been shot down a lot but the Gp really liked wicked growth last year and have been posting memes about lil boo and chanting something along the line pumpkin lord” or lil boo” or they could use a brand new icon based on a pumpkin. Yes I know I’ve said this a lot I really love Halloween and pumpkins but it would be a wasted opportunity not to use him for marketing or the event this year because it’s 31 now which this is his year.

I honestly think having Eddie as an icon is not a bad idea, but this is kinda creepy. These guys were played up by Universal and then got stalked. From a character perspective they should be able to stand on their own not just "biceps and clavicles" and from an actor perspective I think they'd appreciate not just being eye candy.

I think it's fair to say he is hot by design. I don't think it's the fault of fans seeing him this way but the fault of UNI themselves. You just can't design characters that way if they're going to be portrayed by actors in the park, people take it way to far and yes it gets incredibly creepy.

No, he was not. It's a new thing that started this year due to a few of the actors being good-looking and being very much in shape.

They hire muscular guys to play psychopathic, emotionally-unhinged murderers running around with deadly industrial tools because they want the characters to be intimidating. Not “hot.”

Like, the Eddie character was originally designed as socially-deficient “trailer park trash.”
