Hmmm… so it’s not Batman, Reality Tv, and anime what could it be? Godzilla?”

Are you talking Five Nights at Freddies? It's been brought up several times. The movie is also basically dead. The speculation also said it wasn't a video game- I think it's safe to rule out FNaF.

Yeah! Sorry did not see Security Breach in the HHN31 thread. The movie was just confirmed to be in the works a few weeks ago on the Blumhouse live q&a actually.

Really? Thats awesome. FWIW, I want either a FNaF or Willy's Wonderland. I think it's a REALLY cool concept.

Sidenote, whoever said Godzilla, yes please.

I have to admit I would love to see Scary Movie, Scooby Doo or Adams Family at the event, I would be happy with any of the three, but I think none will make it. The Squid Game was a hit but I wouldn't want to see a house about the series

I could see the Munsters too. I know Rob Zombie was working hard on the iconic house at 1313 Mockingbird Lane in Hungary late last year. He has been known to contribute to HHN in the past.

I could also see Eli Roth's series, Hemlock Grove on Netflix being a possibility ONLY because the book just came out and has given it a new light.

Also, the New Texas Chainsaw Massacre comes out this month...an easy option.

Salem's Lot and Evil Dead seem too soon, their releases are not till Sept/Oct....Hellraiser 's release is still TBD so that is doubtful

Stranger Things, Scream and Chucky I think are sure bets (we did get a Chucky teaser last year with the photo booth)

We’ve brought up Casper in the past right? I think I remember hearing that rumor floating around last year.

It wasn’t a rumor. It was speculated.

Feel like we've really glossed over some of the anime guesses thrown out... Some IPs would definitely fit the clues IMO.

I think it’s because the IP is supposed to be popular with the general public, but possible back lash from the HHN community. Anime isn’t really a super popular thing with the general public.

Question for everyone...

Are we thinking that this big IP can also be halloween-adjacent or just horror-adjacent?

I think ya nailed it, this could absolutely headline where Scooby headlining to me is a marketing disaster. This is really an “adult” event.

I 100% believe it’s Knives Out, especially for all the reasons you mentioned and a long-standing relationship with Netflix.

It’s horror Adjacent as in drifting away from the genre but having horror elements.

Even if we do not get a Knives Out house (because I do not think its a horror adjacent IP), a Murder Mystery original is high on my list of things I would love to see at the event some day.

Wouldn’t really call Knives out horror adjacent or really popular with the GP.

Is The 100 still a thing? Looking at Netflix top shows and that and Umbrella academy seem possible but don’t really thing UA fits horror adjacent.

Yeah, but would guess you walk around Universal asking people about it you would get far more misses then hits. It’s also just a murder mystery with really no horror elements at all.

What a rollercoaster reading just these ten pages have been.

Here is what we know from Rookie about the IP:

- The IP is popular with the general public and horror-adjacent. That pretty much knocks out “cult classic” and anime. This is something that Universal believes is a big enough IP that can headline despite not being obvious horror.
- It’s not a music artist or musical act.
- The HHN fandom will likely respond to the IP by vocally saying it doesn’t belong in a similar way they reacted to Eilish.

I’m also confident, based on stuff I’ve been told from others, that the IP is a TV show and/or movie. While that doesn’t eliminate all video games, it does eliminate most of them (and the popular enough to occur despite not being “horror” will likely eliminate most other video game options).

Assuming we can take all of these clues at face value, there’s actually not as many options as it would appear at first glance. Of those options, we can likely start taking some off the table to actually narrow things down.

An IP that is popular and has horror adjacent elements, not musically based and would be something that could be divisive.

Ordinarily, I would dismiss it out of hand, but it has gained large success internationally with it's film dominating the box office for some time. While it is anime to an extent--might I propose Demon Slayer to the mix? It would be horror adjacent in the terms of the spirits and creatures involved in the show, and while it's strengths lie more as an action/supernatural, they do not shy away from dark areas.

Not to mention, Universal Studios Japan had massive success with Demon Slayer XR; and the merchandising for food/bevs ontop of generic merchandise appeared to of been gangbusters. It is a Sony IP under A-1Pictures and they have had active and eventful inclusions of Sony's Evil Dead and Ghostbusters.

I am genuinely, hopefully/probably wrong. But I am looking at what has been told, and I think it would be treated even more as an anomaly than Ellish or even Ghostbusters. But it's box office don't lie, and it came out as a very unconventionally successful film release (I live in a small, backbones tourist town: we had Mugen Train for two weeks past it's release window). But I wanted to throw my hand and give a crap guess.

I'm also taking the guess, if it's from executives thinking "hey this is doing gangbusters in NA, let's try something here to capitalize"

The only way I see anything anime being part of this is if we're looking at the divisiveness on the wrong end, and it'll be a pick that makes the GP go "why?". I guarantee you more people into HHN and this sphere of stuff are aware and "into" things like Demon Slayer and might draw fans who don't "do" horror, but Mom and Pop classic Horror Nights aren't going to understand it as an IP and be excited any more than if they did an original "Yokai of Japan" house.
