Further on the aspect of how much money it made, Terrifier 3 worldwide made more than Crimson Peak, Cabin in the Woods, Unfriended, Silent Hill 2, Sinister 2, Freaky, and 2011's The Thing -- all of which have been represented at Horror Nights. Now each of these def have their own reasons for why they were done outside of popularity, like branding, such as Guillermo Del Toro, but just looking at pure dollars earned, it's done pretty much on brand what any generally successful horror film has done (and with less budget too, but not like that matters too much). And some other "big" horror movies a lot of us have requested lately, it has made more (and in some cases WAY more) than the likes of Barbarian, Thanksgiving, the last 2 Strangers movies, the X/Pearl/Maxxxine trilogy COMBINED almost twice over, and even on par with 2021's Candyman.

Well since we’re going into arguments, I think they should do TCM and Walking Dead again. That will be WAY more interesting than Terrifier.

For what it’s worth, I got to see TWD twice.

One as it was an infant born into the world, and one beginning to become a vegetable before it’d be longing for death. I wouldn’t mind seeing it back, if only it didn’t follow Ricks group and opted to cover the Telltale story of Lee and Clementine.

Is this an excuse for me to have a house where we can hear Dave Fennoys amazing voice again? Yeah, but it’d be different enough!

Just to add to this- I understand that argument for the first two movies. Especially the first. But the third one? All the victims were mostly males. Only 2-3 female characters were killed I believe and the most excessive deaths were saved for the male characters lol

if they do the house they wouldnt just focus on part 3 would they? but maybe they would

it actually would solve any problem if they focus on 3 alone.

Honestly, if they were to do a house based on the Daryl Dixon spin-off, I feel like it could actually slap. The French setting with diverse locales, the new running zombies, the bioluminescent ones… his show has done a pretty solid job in differentiating itself from the original show in a way that there’s a lot to work with for a house. Not saying I’d expect to actually see TWD ever come back to the event since it’s far from the pop culture juggernaut it was, but at the least Daryl’s show has enough for them to make a unique “zombie” house that it wouldn’t be the worst thing to see the IP back for a year…

Speaking of zombies: this is most likely not possible, but I'd love an OG Dawn of the Dead or Day of the Dead maze. Reproducing Captain Rhodes demise at the end of Day would be worth the price of admission.

One thing I loved that HHN did with Walking Dead was the gauntlet into the backlot (can't remember what year) - it was just a confined alley with fog, and walkers coming at you from all sides, simple but I thought it really worked. Doing something in the open like that as an expanded concept, perhaps like the walled in Purge scare zone might be fun.

Hell yeah, exactly this.

Dead Inside was the best new maze that year, outside of a repeating and improved La Llorona. The facade alone was special and the pace of it was so intense.

No Safe Haven was a step up and the scale was massive.

End of the Line was mostly a repeat, but the new stuff they added was freakin' great -- this is the only one that seeeeems like a dud, but really it was fairly solid.

Wolves Not Far was somehow the best one while everyone was complaining of a fourth year repeat. Probably one of the longest mazes we've had and such an epic scope, with a combination of trigger scares and roaming scareactors (probably the ONLY HHN maze I've seen do this).

The Attraction, while a combination of all four, was a pretty good maze. Not quite as good as House of Horrors, but still fine when fully staffed.

The Terror Trams were hit or miss though.

I'm not going to lie, this is hilarious. The last month or so I've been reading a lot of the old hhn Hollywood spec forums (2012-2018, currently half way through the 2018 one) and a lot of you would complain SO MUCH about TWD being at hhn. I mean I get it, it was very over-saturated at hhn. But now you guys are open to it coming back??? Full circle moment. Lmao. You guys are very funny.

Yeah, I’d be good to never see The Walking Dead again lmao. I didn’t like them when they were there and I certainly am not nostalgic for it now haha.

Yeah that’s why I thought for sure I would get some reactions out of my posts. You should see speculation from the early 2010’s. We would’ve been SO MAD about Freddy or Jason coming back. Now enough time has passed to where we would kill to have them again! Lol

You never know you're in the good ol' days until they've ended...

Edit: I will say, part of this all is nostalgia but also part of it is knowing that the budgets are much bigger than they were in the 2010s. How cool would it be to get Dream Warriors with a Quiet Place-level budget?

I think it's a case of something like Star Wars. The most vocal people (the hardcore fans) scream about not liking a thing while forgetting that:
  • The event in Hollywood had been on hiatus and was not particularly old at the time The Walking Dead was first introduced. Having a popular anchor IP was far more critical to the success of the event back then. While we don't have event numbers, I think it's fair to say the event wasn't nearly as popular back then and IP choice mattered significantly more and may have had some contractual or corporate entanglements (although I have zero evidence of that second point and I don't know if Murdy has ever addressed it).
  • The Walking Dead was absurdly popular during that time and growing. The Hollywood Reporter says 22 million people watched the season five premiere in 2014 within one week of release. I was shocked to learn that viewing numbers during 2014 to 2016 were as high as Game of Thrones up until the final two seasons (and Game of Thrones was a bona fide cultural phenomenon). If anything, Halloween Horror Nights was really ahead of the curve back in featuring the IP in 2012, and this absolutely brought the general public to the event.
  • As I recall, the last standalone house was 2015, which was right after the peak viewership of the show, and the only remaining vestige of the property was the daytime attraction, so the timeline makes sense.
I don't particularly care for The Walking Dead, and I don't think it's arguable that it overstayed its welcome, but the hate is also very exaggerated and it likely did not come from the general public. Also, while nostalgia and time tend to dim the less memorable parts the houses, coming from someone who didn't love the IP, I do have memories of the houses generally being very well themed with minimal black wallz and some very good scares.

The hate just feels like a case of, "This is not targeted towards me and therefore it is bad."

Which is how I feel about Terrifier.

I’m curious. Should T-PAD be turned into a permanent location. Where they don’t have to worry about taking the entire location down. Curious why Hollywood doesn’t make a permanent tent structure that isn’t taken down

Also. If metro does end up returning last year. Does that mean T-PAD won’t return???

“Permanent” structures are subject to very different rules than temporary ones.

Me and Hydra have been on and off in speculating and wondering on the matter, and I think T-Pad's proximity to SS15 should make it safe for HHN. The accessibility that comes with that specific venue is unlike that of other options (though I wouldn't mind if they repositioned the tent to be alongside the SS15 building and that of Transformers, as opposed to just SS15).

It's prime theme park expansion space, especially once they finish the Park Lake soundstages; and it doesn't make sense that they'd lose the space anytime soon. And I think having it used as a constant HHN venue for the time being makes sense.

___

Honestly my wondering on speculation with locations; is that of H-Lot and both Mummy Venue and SS12.

Acknowledging the former, with IFly's demolition in a matter of weeks, I wonder if they might need H-Lot to be saved for the sake of parking redistribution in the wake of P515 being right next to the front gate parking (and the Central hub in the process). It might make sense that you recoup and regain any lost parking for 2025 in the wake of large infastructural projects taking place. EDIT: Decided to do a calculating, and from my guessing; we are losing over 149 in the terms of current parking spaces with that of the area nearby Jurassic and the NBC Sports Grill Brew, and that of the Front Gate parking next to Security. 114 for the Front Gate, 29 I think for the area nearby Jurassic/Grill Brew. Assuming I am right and not an idiot (which I typically am), then they will have to redistribute the parking to other areas (alongside dealing with the regrading ramifications in how it could affect Frankenstein Parking. Did I really just spend a half hour doing stupid math on parking spaces to speculate? YES! But I hope the math does some good on perspective).

That'd inheritably force them to lose H-Lot for at least 2025; though it could be something that'd only be for the sake of the upcoming year.

As for Mummy Venue, while I doubt they'd want to lose a venue like it, you do lose the limited visibility that is now occurred in the wake of the deforestation. While I don't think it's inheritedly a death nail, I do wonder if the ultility project forces Mummy Overflow to be one of the later projects for HHN2025.

And then SS12 being a matter of affordability and in proximity. You had some really dumb calls with having Jurassic used effectively as a holding pen. I think it limits what you could have as a house over there, unless if you made a change to the accessibility and operations of what that venue could do. I maintain that Super Nintendo World should've been used as the "Connector" like how Potter is to H-Lot, and I hope if SS12 is back in play for 2025, then that they change how flow works with it.

Otherwise, if you lose H-Lot in the wake of P515 and P294 and lose SS12 in the wake of outside factors...Metro would make some sense.
