2023 Spec: Terrifier is too niche

2024 Spec: Yeah I know there's a movie coming out, but it's too controversial.

2025 Spec: Yeah it's happening.

2025 hasn't even started yet yet we already "know" two IPs. Am I gonna wake up tomnorrow and see that we're gonna get Scream?

The Scream part was a joke btw in case I jinx speculation.

I’ll believe it when I see it. I’ve been a strong advocate for this IP before this started getting embraced.

I'm not that big of a fan of Terrifier as a IP--for a levy of reasons. But the money incentive to capitalize on Art makes a ton of sense. Really hope if it's accurate, that Murdy makes something that gets me to like it.

I’m also a Terrifier denier until it’s officially announced.

Would be fair to point out legacy said he’s only 60% sure about this IP but posted the clue because that’s what he was hearing

I doubt Murdy can change that. The IP is a hate it or love it slasher.

This could end up being what happened with NOES. If this IP get confirmed, a strong fanbase will flood the park.

The box-office was very strong for Terrifier 3 (I hear it would have been stronger still, but unaccompanied under 17s were buying tickets for Wild Robot and sneaking into Terrifier 3 lol), Art the Clown is one of the new wave horror icons like M3gan and the Grabber - so it makes a lot more sense now, and the film maker is keen on HHN. Some of the violence might be too extreme for HHN (many would know what I'm talking about), but there's more than enough set-pieces for a maze.

I'd love to see a standalone Dracula maze for UM, but we'll see what they do with UM given the expansion of the brand into Vegas.

Is Five Nights at Freddy's any chance this year; or maybe we'll get the other Freddy.

I feel like Fazbear would be the more likely of the two. WB seems to be having a strong thing going with Six Flags right now despite how terrible their mazes may be.

if terrifier comes to hhn then no movie is off limits no matter how extreme. maybe that's the page that hhn will turn. the new "era"
so movies that were banned in different countries or extreme gore ( rated x) type of movies would be in the table
it will be interesting but kind of too intense ( I won't even mention what movies, you know which ones they are)
horror nights will always have extremely gory puppets or set pieces but when it comes to movies it's never crossed that line ( the latex gore in real life is kinda funny, as a mask or a puppet, is silly)

Pointing out that HHN did house of a thousand corpses pretty recently and that falls into the same category Terrifier does. Having a creator who wants to be at the event probably does wonders for its chances.

no way is house of 1000 corpses as extremely gory as terrifier. ( there is a lost version of that movie with more gore) but not the official one.
the official release of 1000 corpses has gore but a lot of it is implied or filmed in bad quality.

Even funnier is that HOaTC was at the event the same exact year as Stranger Things 2 and GhostBusters. Love it

Comparing that abomination we got to the legacy house is a disservice to how fun and made with love the original HOTC was at Hollywood. It was toned down dramatically to fit in with the rest of the event's lineup.

EDIT: My point exactly with the above...

I've always maintained the violence was not an issue with Terrifier, the event's violence is pretty extreme (struggling to see how anything that'd be in a maze would be worse than any TCM maze or Hostel or Monstrous -- just the movie sucks and the audience was low. The movies still suck but now the audience is on the cusp of mainstream, which is enough for HHN. Hoping we don't get it for my own personal tastes, but I could understand that decision from a business standpoint. It'd even give them a reason to break out some of their Christmas decorations, which would keep budget lower on the house than probably most others. Also, not that insane of a makeup job, which works on a practicality front.

the movies are pretty brutal towards women, and like you said sure, Texas chainsaw and other houses/movies have had female victims before, but terrifier is pretty hardcore in the way he acts towards his victims. pretty extreme in the tortures. the movies almost feel like it wants to insult his victims and the audience.

sure but most movies aren't as extreme or as hateful as this clown. when Jason or Michael Myers kills them, they just move on, it's quick. Leatherface is technically running a business.
that's the problem with this clown,

It's less that the psychotic murderer in the movie behaves like a psychotic murderer and more that the people making the movie are themselves kinda behaving like psychotic murderers in the way they draw out, aestheticize, and hyperfocus on all the psychotic murder happening on screen.

Seriously, you can't watch the Terrifier movies (especially 2 and 3) and in good faith act like the director isn't taking pleasure in what he's depicting. And for the record, that is in absolutely no way a judgement against him, the movie, or anyone who likes him/the movie. Enjoying Terrifier is not an endorsement of extreme violence or psychotic murderers; neither is making a Terrifier movie. But also, let's not be obtuse here.

FWIW, I think the Terrifier movies are extremely stupid and shallow, but I think it would be a fun fit for the event. It has the right kind of grand guignol spirit.
