Sometimes when we look back on the past, we get a good bit of distortion...

So it's good to go back and look at what things were in forms of media from the time itself.

A lot of people really seem to get a kick out of that Danny Kaye special, but I can't ever tell if they're just being ironic because I think it is just simply awful.

As a production, it's absolutely not good. I think what a lot of people (and I include myself among them) respond to is the fact that it's a snapshot of an ultra-specific time in the park's history, complete with terrific footage from the era.

Because of Epcot's core ideals, it doesn't worry about ruining the magic so it straight up tells you how things were made and how they work.

The Racer was a dueling coaster before there were dueling coasters. "Two red & blue trains, on separate tracks, run parallel up & down the Racer's hills. I hope this is true. Not so I can ride Energy again, but so I can have lunch at Tangierine Cafe in Morocco again sooner.

I do wonder at what point Energy will see a rise in attendance... if ever. They dont even bother posting a wait time for it on the tipboard or app anymore.. It's been overtaken by Gran Fiesta Tour in operational importance.

Instead of Guardians of the Galaxy, I think a pavilion on Relativity and Time would be a great complement to the close-by Mission:SPACE Pavilion. There could be a point in the attraction that talks about Einstein's theory :)

"Tonight on "Disney's Imagineering Xtreme Challenge" here on "The Disney Channel". Our contestants are given a basket with 3 "ingredients". They must use these ingediants to create a world class Disney E-Ticket attraction.

So, shall we see what's in tonight's basket. First we have "Einstein's Theory of Reletivity". Oooo, Science! Sounds Epcot-y.

The second ingredient is... The vacant WoL Pavilion. Ok guys, this is going to be too easy.

And the third ingredient is..."Jake and the Neverland Pirates!" Ohhh, didn't see that one coming. That's gonna hurt.

Ok guys. We're going to start the clock. You have 90 seconds to design this attraction and, as always, the winner gets their design built at one of the beautiful Disney Parks© around the world. So grab your ink pens and cocktail napkins. Annnnd GO!"

I always thought there should be a theme park design competition show. Winners get a real pavilion built.

That's the only way a show like that would ever happen.

I've decided what's really keeping me from being excited about Guardians in't any sort of dislike of the IP or even it's fit in Epcot (because it has ways it could work - and AVATAR proves a good ride doesn't need a "good" IP fit).

Rather, I'm worried about a repeat of the M:S problem - where I was very excited about what was to come and fully bought into the hype and all.. only to be sorely disappointed.

Hopefully when Energy closes they give out some more details of what's coming so we have a clearly picture. Right now it's not even vague - it's pretty much nonexistent aside from the exterior (and minor tweaks aside that could of been how Energy opened with the park - it's not much different.)

I wonder if they are going to utilize the solar panels on top of the building.

The pond is empty out front, sign removal should be imminent:

I also think it's worth pointing out that GotG isn't mentioned on the sign out front of UoE, but MMRR is prominently advertised outside of GMR. Of course that could be because GotG is well behind Mickey in terms of opening date though.

Eh, the Chinese theater needs minimal exterior work.

Energy is getting reskinned.

At some point energy will need walls and that's when signage should show up.

Those panels are very old and don't deliver as much energy as current panels. I hope they'll be replaced but the whole repainted building in the concept art doesn't screams "Guardians of the Galaxy" to me. It looks cheap so I expect they keep them as is.

At this point they're pretty much turned off.

Pond pump room is getting a cutout look, decor and railing on the pond. Entry doors take on the slanted TRON test track look. Mirrors gone. Pillars on the building getting the TRON type neon cutouts.

This thread is so depressing.

The now they are trying to fix epcot the more I feel they are killing it.

If it weren't for the permits that have been filed already, I would wonder if this was just a project they only announced mostly for the Wall Street buzz and just have an excuse to shutter Energy, with only middling intent to follow through on a replacement attraction in the short-term. I think there's chance that might actually be the case with TRON, they announced it for the PR value and may or may not get around to actually building it.

I highly doubt TRON won't get built. It's just not something we're going to really see work on for about another 1-1.5 years since TRON isn't planned to open until 2021.
