Yes, unless we aren't counting that as a ride

definitely counting it as a ride, but it certainly makes me a lot less surprised that they've closed two rides at the same time.

Have there been any notable changes from this refurb?

What lighting effects were you expecting them to add?

I had heard they might be doing new/fixed lighting effects or something during the Mummy refurb. Just was wondering if they maybe did something similar with JW.

I mean, there’s really only one interior scene in the whole attraction and the way it’s lit is top notch. I don’t really know what they could do to improve that. Unless you mean the exterior lighting, in which case that was upgraded during the retheme, anyway. There’s no real need to update the lighting for the attraction. I have no firsthand knowledge about lighting upgrades during Mummy’s refurb, but if anything I’d guess it was replacing incandescent fixtures with LED ones, rather than a complete lighting redesign.

Rode this tonight and it was wild: Nearly a dozen people on the boat all had their phones out for the entire duration of the ride, filming it, all experiencing the ride through their screens. Like, no one even looking up and seeing the animatronics, etc., with their own eyes, and a number of them young kids. What they choose to do obviously doesn’t affect me, and it’s not like it’s out of the ordinary anymore, but it was weirdly still disheartening to see…

(That said, it was awesome to see Blue and the Indo working smoothly again! Even having been on this a billion times, when the Indo is working, its cool factor still really hits.)

I’ve seen this happen a bunch in Japan and China but never here. Finally will get to ride Jurassic World for the first time in a long while this week so let’s see if I get a similar experience.

Glad to see Blue and the Indo working again! (They were working great when I went last week!). What a dystopian reality of seeing everything through a phone screen. Geez.

Wish they’d kept this in some form. That scene is by far my least favorite part of the Jurassic World retheme. The Mosasaurus is my favorite dinosaur, but after watching the same screens for the hundredth time I kind of just completely tune it out.

I get that the long-necked dinosaurs were difficult to maintain, but I would take a completely stationary version of that scene over what feels like an empty hallway :/

Not sure how a "bump" would mess up the timing intervals. I'm guessing maybe an effect similar to the Hadrosaur "bump" was discussed but never implemented.

This ad and the bump was discussed in the construction thread back in 2019, with Alicia having hoped it meant the flipper patent was going to be put to use. And now I'm struggling to wrap my head around the fact that this version of the ride is nearly six years old.

We kinda did have a completely stationary version of the scene for a good number of years

I’m actually very curious to see what the plans were for the fully enclosed version of the ride.
