honestly surprised no one has posted yet, but today Disney dropped a whole slew of info regarding the future of DAW:

Love how thorough and detailed this is. It's like 7 Disney Park Blog posts in one. Great info for those interested in this latest developments.

I'll be there next year so happy to see the park evolve even further as I thought it already had a lot to offer on my last visit (but still plenty room for improvement as well).

I know the park needs improvements and all, but I'm surprised to see Disney going all in with it. The park could double in size and attractions in just one decade. I'm kinda worried about it being too much and investment will slow down significantly after (like seemingly what's happening with EPCOT).

The park needed this sort of rapid-fire investment though. Once Lion King opens, it should transform the park into somewhat of a 1-day park experience.. which will help sell multi-day tickets and resort stays.

Ideally the attendance boost by this expansion should help Disney feel more comfortable with additional projects at the original park too.

And the eventual third gate the WDC is contractually obligated to build with the French Government. If DAW is completed by 2030, expect talks to pick up ahead of the 2036 deadline.

I don't think Disney will make the same mistake again. I think they'll either just let the contract lapse and give the land to the government or keep extending the deadline.

I just don't see Paris getting a 3rd gate, unless it's some sort of boutique/water park experience.

I remember reading somewhere that Disney is doing the WDS renovations/expansion so they don't have to do a third gate. Wouldn't surprise me if that's true.

So Disney Adventure World (Hate that generic ahhh name) just grand opened over this weekend. Good for the French. Still the weakest Disney park of all time but I’m glad it’s gotten a little better.

That's okay, they've got (IMO) the second-best castle park in the world ... and Paris right down the street. I will shed no tears for them. Especially with the couple of big expansions coming to this park in the next decade.

On a thematic and execution level certainly, but they now have twice as much to do as Animal Kingdom and will soon have all the good Animal Kingdom rides. If the timeline hadn't been extended by half a decade, then I'd say they did a good job with the cards they were dealt.

On the other hand, the park still lacks a cohesive identity and feels like a collection of things. We had a nice time in spring 2024, and they've obviously made some notable improvements and additions since then, but you never escape the feeling that it's a mishmash. Animal Kingdom is more than some of its parts, and many of Adventure World's offerings are pure flat ride padding.

Lion King will help, but it still needs two more lands with multiple attractions (and probably some pruning of the weakest stuff).

They took so long only for it to open with one ride.

That’s my biggest issue with it.

Granted it looks great aesthetic wise but it’s lacking substance in a lot of ways. The good thing is now the park is ready for future expansions down the road.

Yeah, it's a foundational expansion and reset, but one that lacks substantial attractions. After all this, we're getting a clone of Frozen Ever After, an indoor meet and greet, and two flat rides. We'd be in a better spot if the Tangled spinner was swapped for Tokyo DisneySea's Lantern Festival dark ride or an equivalent. (Yes, Tokyo exclusivity for 5-ish years, space probably wasn't there, but you get my point.)

They took so long because they could.

I mean what else does DLP have to compete with? Nigloland? Parc Asterix?

Tokyo truly got one of the best expansions ever to date.

New land with 4 rides is unheard of for modern Disney. I’m holding out hope with Villains Land we get that third attraction.

I feel bad for Paris because despite being such a beautiful park it seems they always get the short end of the stick sometimes. The fans have been begging for something new at their castle park for years and to no avail.

I do like some of the fireworks and show offerings that have debuted with the recent investment wave they got.

Isn’t Efteling major competition despite being more of an amusement park?

It has really good theming.

To be fair, the Euro Disney failure did impact the entire parks division and resulted in less investment and poor quality additions afterwards.

Efteling & Europa Park do about 6-7 million, and it has great theming/storytelling.
