I’ve heard differently but I think it’s safe to say that at this point that unfortunately, like the song says, we are Out of Time… a DawnFM/After Life combo at some point would be fun though

Well on the bright side here’s something to note. After Hours Nightmare maze was announced 2 years after its album release. If Abel’s next album continues to follow the horror style like his previous ones, then we’ll probably see more of him in the future.

In the meantime, *sigh* goodbye Dawn FM…

I've said it before, but the Dawn FM songs being added to the After Hours house felt like a soft deconfirm for me honestly. I've long made my peace.

Not to upset any of the old guard here either, but I don't think Metallica is all that big of an act in 2023 either. They're well known sure, but they are pretty big for a metal band, its honestly been since the late 90s when they were just plain big. I could see it happening, I'd say both Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper are a few rungs lower than Metallica and those got in, but I also don't know if they'd be Billie or the Weeknd again.

And damn, that'd be a shame if Devil Dogs got cut. Not my first choice for Slaughter Sinema rep but I'm always up for more expanded house ideas a la Yeti.

Agreed on all counts, and when it comes to Metallica it should be noted they didn't really come back into the limelight until Master of Puppets was used in a rather popular show...and even then, that was a tad overshadowed by another song used that ended up getting its own comeback of sorts!

yeah, I don’t think that it’s Metallica. Legacy said on twitter he was having a hard time finding a book that had an ISBN for his next clue. Metallica has plenty of books you can get that from.

However, the same thing goes for Stranger Things and he said before he had no reason to believe Universal and Netflix were working together this year…

Things change, but if all that remains in play… then that guitar picture on the spec map could really mean something none of us have guessed yet.

Previous years have had houses both based on cultures (Tomb of the Ancients, Dead Waters, Yeti) as well as cultural monsters (La Llorona, Yeti, Chup, Tooth Fairy). I could see the Japanese house being just that, especially being connected to Demon Slayer in insider speculation even just superficially makes me think this is going to be a Yokai house. Japanese spirits, ghosts, monsters, ogres, as well as the elders who tend to them coming after us. That feels like a pretty solid recipe that the HHN team would cook up for us.

If a Youkai house were to be true, what era in Japan do you think the house would set in? I’m thinking the Feudal era cause it might have some outdoor scenes of them in the woods.

Since the Japanese Creatures house is being mostly speculated as the Yokai/ spirit. The lair of the banshee to me seems like they are both very similar ideas. Because its a spirit/ ghost thing as well. Could one of these be misdirection? Or is this overspeculation.

PURE SPEC - there are ways to present the characters without making it seems like a repeat or derivative of the IP. Personally, I’m expecting it to be more of a period-house, potentially a Victorian Christmas inspired. Or they go even further back, giving it the storybook treatment and it’s an origin story.

Based on my understanding of the rumored yokai house (and the Banshees house), they are distinctively different.

Knowing a bit of myths, legends, spirits and so forth. I would say you're overthinking it. Banshee's are pretty straightforward as a female spirit who wails before someone in a family dies. The appearance is your typical ghostly spirit.

Yokai on the other hand, that a wildly branching path of creatures, monsters, spirits, demons and so forth. Oni's, Kitsune's, Tengu's, Kappa's, Umi-Bozu's, the list goes on and on and on. Then you also have your vengeful spirits, the Onryo. That's Sakado and Kayako from the Ring and the Grudge, respectively. And both of them were pretty much inspired by Oiwa who's often the definitive Onryo, that HHN Singapore actually did a house about in 2018.

By and large, there's a ton of differences between them. And that's not even getting into different settings of Ireland and Japan.
