Nope, you're right. I just looked again at the map, it juts off towards where the parking will be. 'Twas an issue of misremembering (and waking up from a 10-hour nap)...

There's not actually going to be ANY parking at the park itself, they are building special tram lanes from the main Universal garages traveling behind Royal Pacific and Sapphire Falls. You'll get off on one side of Adventure Way and walk through a tunnel to the Volcano Bay entrance. There was a permit filed a while back with a diagram. I think someone even said a few days ago in the thread here that construction is supposed to start on the changes to the south garage soon.

Sounds to me like they based it on the concept of a luxury vacation resort. You don't see cartoon characters like Nicktoons, Goofy, or Lion King at a luxury resort, so this should set them apart from the rest of Orlando water parks and resort pools.

I love that Cabana Bay Beach Resort isn't filled with Minions, Shrek, or Spongebob (other than a few items in the gift shop.) They could've easily done what Disney had for their "value" resort and paint giant murals of them all over the walls and put statues of them in the pools, but instead they did something entirely original. So while their parks might be filled with IPs, it's nice to see this and the resorts doing their own thing.

(Except for the Minion and Jurassic Park themed kids suites at Royal Pacific. That don't count cause it's optional and totally hidden from normal people.)

The vibe I'm getting is Aquatica plussed with more thrill slides and a Let's Go Slurpin'-style full bar. This is not a bad thing at all.

The other interesting thing is that it has been in development for 4-6 years. I cannot imagine working on the same project for such a long time. I'd quit.

Well, lot's to talk about now. Lot's of info released and it's sounding & looking tremendous. It's going to be hard to get rooms at Cabana Bay and Sapphire Falls resorts once this monster opens. I'll definitely be spending many a day of my vacation relaxing & having fun at VB. And I'm not a young kid.....As that great Mexican philosopher, the Frito Bandido, is apt to say, "We don't need no 'stinkin' Fast & Furious ride in 2017. We've got the 'flamin Volcano'. "

Well, Disneyhead just liked this quoted post, so my guess is that this is what he was referring to a few days ago in his reply to my nothing to talk about after Kong post. So he did correctly predict this release of information. A true insider.

I doubt even the most profitable water park makes enough to justify giving over a percentage of the gate to an IP holder.

Okay, so the area where the entrance won't be connected to parking in any way, not even Cabana Bay's? (sorry if I'm asking too many questions, I'm stupidly fascinated on how they're making this work from a resort perspective)

I would not be shocked if they eventually build an entire Despicable Me waterpark/hotel down the line.

Technically the entrance to VB will be close to the Cabana Bay parking but can imagine they will have it fenced off to keep people out. Currently there are exits behind the pool/lazy river where i would guess they will have the path for resort guests to walk over

It was actually a cover for researching for the LOTR land in the third park.

@Schmosby check out the attachment, blue area is the entrance area, red arrow looks like a walkway to front side of Cabana, they don't really show hotel guest parking but its just to the right. To the left of the blue arrow looks like the tram drop off area ?

Aaaah... I almost used that name but I was concerned I was mixing up cultures. So those were Maori doing the thunder thigh dances for the other actors in the making of LOTR dvds. Thanks!
