The train idea, no matter how larger, will still be a capacity nightmare. I just don't see it.

Agreed. It's the one part of the plans that makes no sense to me. At all. It's foolish.

Also agreed. The WDW Trains and monorails work because they are not the sole means of transportation and are not billed as major attractions. There are also multiple load and unload points which this system would not have.

I also agree. Have said it since day 1. The train will be a nightmare, especially with the ticket situation.

The debate was never about not making an island for one series.

jt- You made a comment on the last page that no one series should have an island. The only reason I commenting on JP.

You can't make an entire land just for fans of the series.

Also, I think if you go up to a normal guest today, they'll probably know more about Potter than JP. They may know the general plot of JP (Dinosaurs cloned for park, reek havoc on guests), but I don't think they'd know any of the characters ("that guy with the hat & Jeff Goldblum", is what I imagine would come out of their mouths) or the plot outlines of the Lost World or JPIII.

On another note, when is that 100th celebration happening?

Logistically it could be a nightmare, but having 2 or 3 trains running at a time could be possible back and forth, and with each train lets say with a 1000 person capacity, that means up to 3000 people on the train tracks at any time. Now will they need a capacity that high because that would mean both parks are at capacity? More than likely not, but its always good to have it.

Can you imagine how long it would take to load 1000 people?

Actually what I said was you can't make an island just for fans of the series. Meaning, you can't expand anything to the point where the general public can't fully appreciate the story.

And like I explained to JungleSkip, I meant more of a percentage. Since there is a lot less to actually know, you know more by knowing less.

Hence why I don't forsee the capacity possibly being that high, but theortically, if the trains are only traveling 5 mph and they are traveling approximately a half mile, it would bacially take about 6 minutes from stop to stop. If there are 2 trains at 250 person capacities, then there are 500 people on the track at any given time.

With that, you would have 500 people on the track every 6 minutes, which is, 5000 people an hour, which is 100% doable, you could even have trains with 100 person capacities and have 200 people on the track at a time, and still have a 2000 person per hour capacity, which is very good.

So to me, if the train thing happens, it wont be a super long traditional train, but something smaller and more intimate.

(yes I re-did the number, and went to mapquesto to calculate the distance.

But you could make the same argument for JP, saying they made it "just for the fans." The GP will literally line up for anything new. They generally don't care about story. Here's some examples from my most recent trip to Disneyland. Heading to Haunted Mansion Holiday: "Oh, look! Jack Frost has taken over the Haunted Mansion to bring Christmas! I love those claymation specials!" In the Haunted Mansion: "Was the graveyard always covered in snow? I don't remember that when I was a kid. That skeleton, too. They must've have added it." Heading towards ToT, a couple reading a map: "Wow, they have a new Twilight ride! Let's go to that first!"

Another option is that there is no real full train at all. Just the illusion that there is. All the train cars are separate units that travel individually much like any dark ride vehicle. In this case it would be 80 people per car with 4, 6, 8 cars on the track being switched back and forth on two separate tracks at each station.

So how to propose to load and unload 250 people in no time at all? You need to get 200 tourists to let 200 other people get off the train first, then get on and situated, and check that everyone is ready and the train is ready to go.

Yep. 200 tourists taking pics of themselves getting on the Hogwarts Express? Nightmare.

If there were multiple cars, then yes it would have a higher capacity, but it would also mean a slower ride from park to park in order to not over crowd the tracks and to give time to load and unload.

Thats why I think 2 trains, with a 250 capacity would = a 5000 an hour capacity, which is HIGHER than FJ.

Now some people would say, what about the person who doesn't care about Harry Potter and they just want to go from park to park on the train, but they don't want to wait in line.....well then you walk, plain and simple. People will WANT to ride to say they RODE the Hogwarts Express, that unto itself is what will push people to wait and ride.

To go back to your character argument, the only characters from JP in the ride are John Hammond (or commonly known as the old guy with the hat and cane), and the Dinosaurs. So I still stand by my more accessible argument 100%.

And I commend you for sticking to your guns. I'll stick to my opinion that the GP is for the most part clueless and will line up for the newest thing, even if it's more of the same.
