why I said last few years. The youth love the 90s, the GP horror resurgence is very real, why not try to come close to replicate some of the more gripping designs of the early years, or just absolutely try to make a horror shirt, then whatever nonsense they're coming out with. Yes, my designer brain just cannot fathom hitting submit to put that order of merch in that'll be 80% off mid-october

I feel like the long delay had already started to push this out of the zeitgeist--Terrifier bounds were all the rage last year, Scoops Ahoy and Hellfire Club outfits much rarer--and that last season was rough. Retroactively erase any residual love I had for the show rough.

But hey, will be easier to cast, 30 y.o. scare-actors playing teen kids is suddenly on brand for the IP!

Considering how the houses for this IP have been a case of diminishing returns (Really enjoyed 2018's, 2019's was bigger (but not better), and 2023's was honestly the weakest house that year for me.), my expectations for this one are as low as you could get.

On the plus side, this is an easy lock for the #10 spot on my anticipated list. And I do agree that it'll still probably get a sizable line away from the other houses.

Side note: Everyone is also hating on the shirt, but aside from the "Never Go Alone" placed weird on it, I actually quite like it lol

That's EXACTLY what I thought, but it's so egregious, it kills the shirt. That's why I just bought the mug and called it a day.

absolutely brutal to be probably locked into this before the release and the bad reception/lack of horror involved in that season. Not that these houses bring a single scare anyways. Merchandise team is absolutely lost with this release and the Sinners stuff. just out of touch. I know they can design and I know they love horror nights, but constantly just make the absolute opposite of those facts last few years.

This feels very much like a “get off my lawn” type of post. But as someone who has definitely been scared by a stranger things house in the past and who does see the horror elements of the last season and how it can be translated to a decent house, I don’t think it’s fair to yuck anyones yum. The Holly abduction portion of this house has so much potential in bringing the vibe back to the 2018 christmas light portion of that house that IMO had relentless and creative scares.

since season 5 didn't have that many demos, the house can just avoid using them too much and just have vecna and soldiers the entire time lol.

This feels very much like a “get off my lawn” type of post. But as someone who has definitely been scared by a stranger things house in the past and who does see the horror elements of the last season and how it can be translated to a decent house, I don’t think it’s fair to yuck anyones yum. The Holly abduction portion of this house has so much potential in bringing the vibe back to the 2018 christmas light portion of that house that IMO had relentless and creative scares.

Full transparency, I think the constant trashing of Stranger Things houses of HHN just come from the idea that a lot of the internet community simply doesn't want to see it at the event lol

I don't want to see it at the event (anymore), AND I think the show went off the rails, AND I think the houses other than the first one were disappointing. Overall just not excited about this.

If you HAVE to have ST (and I know they think they do) this should be a comp house. S5 was a snorefest.

At least this will possibly eat some crowd.

I am largely in the “low expectations for this house” camp, although I actually don’t mind the property at the event. The 2018 house was an all-timer. Crossing my fingers and toes this one relies on demogorgons because those scares were effective. Relying on Vecna (imo) did not work as well as the main antagonist in the house in 2023, so I hope we get a nice mix of creatures here. I agree the first half of season 5 offers a TON of house material. The second half gets much larger in terms of set pieces.. and I think these StrTh houses have struggled to portray those personally. I’m not writing it off, but I’m not going in expecting this to be 2018 level either.

personally I LOVE the 2018 house. it was truly beautiful and amazing.
2019 house for he was awful. based on a pretty bad season 2. ( the last room was cool ) but I didn't like the cave sections.

2023 house I like it because it felt like a Salvador Dali painting. I didn't see it as a stranger things house, but I saw it as walking inside a Dali painting.
I loved that.
vecna was cool to see but the actors couldn't do much.

I don't wanna see much regular earth scenes, I would much prefer if most of the house was the freaky upside down.
stranger things works best when it's not earth
but I'm expecting a lot of army and laboratory rooms

I think the creative team that no longer wants to see it at the event, as well. You could feel their passion for it in the first house, they were clearly as big a fans as the customers. By now, not sure anyone could get excited to work on this, both due to a weak finale and the fact it's been done 3x before.

but you bring up a good point, this hhn house on both coasts will give the show a viewing boost. but then more people are gonna complain about it lol
