I think the conscious effort should be made to allow each of the three parks to stand on its own in the best-possible shape.

It's time for USF to get its turn with some big*, dramatic projects.

* The last project at USF I would classify at this scale would be Diagon Alley, and I would put all three of Skull Island, Hagrid's, and VelociCoaster in IOA at a level above everything in USF since then. And surely whatever they're doing in Lost Continent is probably going to be, as well.

Simpsons will obviously be the next big thing for USF post F&F coaster, but another exciting possibility is the soundstage cluster behind what will be the F&F coaster.

What used to be the HRRR load station will no longer be in that spot, which could be Universals way to future proof that area for further USF expansion.

Why not bring back Back to the Future? If the re-release a few weeks ago being in the top 10 opening weekend is any indication, the movies are still in the public's consciousness. Just change the date from 2015 to 2075 and you have another few decades. The ride's film hasn't aged as bad as Simpsons, using practical effects vs CG will do that.

FWIW, BBTF is the IP of choice for the rumored Supercharged reskin.

Only one person has corroborated that rumor, so it is worth approaching with a fair level of skepticism. Even if it was seriously considered, it is also very possible that plans may have changed. Pokémon was the prevailing rumor for the Simpsons replacement until it wasn't...

I get where you're coming from, but I always want the parks to be adding new creations. It keeps the industry fresh and employed, we get something new, and a new generation gets to work on a loved property. If something BTTF is coming I'd like something new because at the least we get to see a new group of folks take on the concept.

Plus the ride system at Simpsons needs to go no matter what comes next. It's pretty rough at this point.

I loved the BttF ride but time for something new if it comes back.

Under no circumstances should that ride system survive. It had its day, and was great. Now destroy it so we can have a clean slate on that site.

I don't want them to destroy two highly expensive OMNIMAX dome screens. We already have few legit IMAX theaters around as it is. Update the ride mechanics, update the projectors, no need to demolish the building. As much as we all prefer less screen rides, BTTF was the master of them. No other motion simulator came close. The Simpsons barely tried to be immersive but that doesn't mean Pokémon can't be better.

To be fair, if there were to be a new BTTF attraction, they would have account for getting the cast from those movies back. Otherwise they would have to recast them for the ride with no-names, which is not as much fun.

I appreciate the historical consideration here, but we have to start making a dent somewhere.

Agreed, now one can make a pretty good case that BTTF still has enough relevancy to keep making new things with it. And I think a fantastic example is the backlot experience at Hollywood's Fan Fest, that was really cool and very well received. I would love to see Universal keep making cool new stuff like that, that's how you keep moving forward with a beloved IP.

And that's a factor why I don't want them bringing back the ride, that's not moving forward, that's being stuck in the past. As nice as the ride was, it had it's time and it's best to move on, especially for the ride system's sake.

Gonna' be honest here, not wanting something to be torn down because it was expensive doesn't hold water. There was actually an example of this not too long ago, as some folks theorized that Disney wouldn't tear down the ill-fated Harmonious because it was so expensive...yet that is exactly what Disney did, and that was something that was brand new.

The bones of this attraction have been around since 1991, and it's being held together by duct tape, a lick and a prayer. While one might think you just need to replace the ride system and projectors, I don't think that's gonna' be cheap, especially with the ride system.

Also, there's no guarantee that's all they need to do, because what is the state of the building itself? Disney has paid the very expensive price on trying to reuse old buildings (Hi, Cosmic Rewind.), so one better hope they don't find any issues that require more refurbishment.

This is not like Disney swapping films/ride programs for Soarin'. Universal would have to put down a decent amount of money just to bring back a past attraction, and is that what the Studios need going forward? Personally, I feel a potential Hill Valley with a brand-new attraction as it's anchor is gonna' be a far easier sell then a Hill Valley with a past attraction as it's anchor.

IMAX is investing into legacy screens again at new locations. I don't think we need to worry about losing two OMNIMAX domes, especially when rides like Flight of Passage show you can still get away with gigantic curved screens rather than domes in this day and age.

The Simpsons plot needs to become home to some sort of all encompassing, family dark ride with no height requirement.
