Would AP previews most likely happen during the work week?

I remember my Velocicoaster preview being in the middle of the week, so who knows.

If I had to guess, it'll be a date reservation system similar to how you can currently book tickets as a pass holder - but with some dates here and there unavailable to allow for continued work inside guest areas in the park. Regardless, super interested to see how they handle the preview process.

VelociCoaster/DreamWorks preview was a VQ-style system that allowed you to enter the area after a specific time. I have to imagine Epic's preview will be similar to prevent having people arrive super early. Doubt Universal wants to deal with multiple days of people arriving at 5AM like Hagrid or Rise of the Resistance lol

Either some sort of timed arrival or require people to see a specific land first.

I wouldn't use how they operated an attraction's soft opening as the gauge for Epic. There may be similar threads, but this is a whole new park.

I wouldn't either, but wouldn't Universal want some sort of system to prevent crowds from arriving so early? Unless previews will be very limited and no need for such a system..

Obviously, during ROTR/Hagrid you had thousands of guests start to arrive at 5AM... does Universal want that though for previews? Or do they want to control when guests are allowed to enter initially to prevent a backup?

Again - you're comparing rides in existing theme parks, which Universal had to consider capacity differently.

For example, if 20K people get tickets for IOA on the day VelociCoaster has its soft opening, it's unclear where everyone will head - so they had to manage with the expectation a majority will head to the coaster.

However, if 20K people purchase tickets for Epic Universe, it's obvious what the intention is. (Not taking into account that they can limit capacity even further, if they wanted to).

To add on to what Brian said, I think part of what they will need to know is what people are actually going to do when it's more of a real-life situation.

This isn't a single new ride where they know everyone is going to head straight to that attraction/area. That's why Galaxy Edge had their reserve slots as well when Disney soft'ed in DL and HS

They need to know how to staff appropriately and this park is going to have a lot of changes they are going to need to be ready for. This is their first park designed with Spokes, there are two entrances so you can't get away with opening rides later because it takes people time to get there, there's no one hot ride right now. So they need their TMs to be ready, and they need business operations to be ready.

I don't think any one really knows where the General Public is going to go other than I would probably put Nintendo towards the bottom because it is more of a known commodity. I think you've got a toss up when its gonna come to Berk, Monsters, and Potter

I think tech rehearsals (previews) are meant to prepare the staff for when guest paying full price start arriving. I could see them doing something more along the lines of allowing 10K on the 1st day, 20K on the 2nd, basically control via capacity to build up to what is expected on opening day as opposed to trying to tell people to arrive during different windows -- they need to stress test security screening, parking, turnstiles and such just as much as they need to understand ride capacity.

I mean if the park opens at 10AM and folks are arriving at 5AM, what is going to stop them from showing up a 5AM for a 1PM arrival window?

Their parking staff (and admission gates, etc.) probably need this. Maybe not 5 a.m., they can set when the lot opens, but after that, let the guests flow.

They did that with Volcano Bay - where they instructed guests that the garages will not open until 6am.

I think it'd be unwise of them to count out Nintendo honestly. Still lots of energy around that IP, and there are many people who have not been to either Japan or Cali to see it in person yet.

Also, this is probably being discussed in the general thread, but friends and family previews for TMs are being offered as of tomorrow. That will probably be my first time going, my first ticket into Epic, so real excited for that!

What about the walkers from Stella, or the Uber/family drop offs, how long will that line be lol? I haven't looked and have no clue how the walking path enters and waits at any checkpoints.

I don't think having long lines at the preview for the brand new theme park is actually a problem. That's just kinda how this goes.

Driving to Epic opening week seems like a bad move in general. I imagine previews will be fine.

I totally agree! this was just my assumption, but the only way to get a good idea is with these kinds of soft openings to see what actually does happen instead of theorycrafting it all

So did they stop selling AP single-day tickets? They were up earlier today and now it won't show the calendar.
