If you have an account and built up platinum points it costs 10 per entry.

Edit: it’s a 4 day trip with only 1 day at Epic though. Volcano Bay is also included.

Got it.

Just a heads up, you can probably get 30 points by simply logging into the site: My Nintendo.

Didn't they say that CP (besides the rides) would be free admission at night? Or am I Mandela-ing?

No. It was a persistent rumor, but we've received no official word to suggest any area of the park will be accessible for free at any time.

Plus, the FAQ on the Universal website explicitly states admission is required for Celestial Park.

The stories I've heard about the IOA previews sounds like the feeling at the time was they got burned by having too many community/passholder/TM previews and it hurt attendance when the park actually opened because so many (local) people had already been. That combined with the botched marketing of "Universal Escape".

I think the current plan is working as planned-- TMs are raving about the park already. In the next week or two their families will do the same (and probably post photos). Passholders will then do the same in the weeks after that. All this works together to sell those multi-day tickets to those who "just have to go no matter what", then single day tickets fill in the (limited) remaining space.

I think they were also smart to open up park tickets to APs so early before any announcements or hints about AP previews. So they locked most interested people in with tickets already, and the previews will just be a bonus visit. I don't think most people would have held off on buying tickets purely in the hopes of just going for previews

I know a few actually. They are waiting to see if they can get preview tickets before purchasing.

My wife and I are in the same boat. We're out of state, and are planning on going at some point in the late summer/fall, but don't have dates locked in yet so we're not going to purchase tickets. If we get access to an AP preview we plan on making a quick trip down. Otherwise, we are waiting. If rumored previews happen, I'm just hoping it's easy to pick what date you want to attend.

Welcome!

Unfortunately, our best answer is just the general "soon." If you call, they'll give you the script of "We'll be releasing them before the park opens.".

Interesting move by Disney today, they lowered Annual Pass downpayments to just $99 versus the $205 previously. Heck of a deal for locals who may have dropped WDW in favor of UOR these last few years to switch back to the mouse with Epic not included or able to upgrade.

The caveat is that monthly payments increased.

True, but it makes it an easier conversation starter. $400 versus $820 for a family of 4 for the downpayment, "only" $9 more monthly per pass.

It's not the way you should look at finances (should be a full-year look not month to month, IMO), but it's easier to drop $400 over $800 at the start.

Domestic travel is down, according to airlines, so definitely leaning toward the undesirables/FL residents now lol

I agree with your statement in the middle: If the total price of the pass is the same, lowering the initial down-payment shouldn't be a deciding factor for someone to buy it when they otherwise couldn't financially. The total amount owed doesn't change. If someone can't afford the total price, the cumulative affect on their finances over time is the same whether or not the initial deposit is small or large.

I feel like this is an emotionally targeted marketing trying to 'trick' people into thinking it is less than it actually is. Financially, it's better to wait, set aside the amount each month on your own, and then pay for the pass as a whole.

Agree, I think it's just a stupid (yet smart) way to market "more affordable" APs to people without lowering the actual total cost. It's interesting to see UOR offer 3 to 6 months free, with WDW "offering" this instead.

We haven't seen a price increase yet this year (typically in Feb about halfway through Disney's fiscal year), so this might be their form of price changes this go around. They could of course always increase prices tomorrow to hide good news in front of bad news lol

How much do we think AP preview tickets will cost? If we follow inflation from the IOA preview pricing, they'd be around $48. As much as I wish that to be the case I have a feeling they'll be more in the $75-$99 range.

I would imagine a “half price” ticket in the $60-80 range based on regular tickets being sold to passholders now.

I'd be shocked if it's less than $75.
