Interesting. I've wondered the most about this effect for DA. Having this be in the official marketing is fascinating...

That looks so cool. Super excited by this graphic; even if it's only a representation in terms of this actual effect, it sums up the excitement of the expansion being revealed really well.

Well this thread has been super slow lately but does anyone know if that wall that leads to Diagon will be a big hole in the wall like the one in the picture? I remember hearing about some illusion using perspective I think. It seems more practical to just have a wall with the bricks opened up

We have heard both perspective and a practical effect with the bricks. Who knows which is true. Pulling the swiveling brick effect would seem to be an ungodly maintenance issue, but perhaps they have come up with a workable solution.

From a sheer volume of people perspective, I can't see the brick wall being anything but open all the time. If it opens and closes, or is even an effect that makes it look closed and open at different times, it's going to create a bottleneck where people can't get through. Everyone going to diagon would want to stop and see it, take pictures, etc, and it would get backed up quickly.

There have been rumors that this is exactly what Uni wants. To control the flow into the area and have a better control over who gets in and at what time. Return time tickets are a given if this is true.

More importantly, it's probably what Jo wants too.

Yep, I agree. I see a kind of PF holding chamber... 50-100 at a time. But who knows if this is what they will do. So much has seemed to change since some of the original concepts.

Maybe they could take a page from Magic Kingdom's "Storytime With Belle" and use a similar effect as the magic mirror.

It's only from the UOteam website. You're not gonna get a higher quality image until they actually release it

Cant imagine it opening and closing for crowd control but I really have no idea. Im no insider. I would prefer a practical effect over an illusion. I really cant imagine them pulling off an illusion thats really that convincing

If they do something similar to the movie that's convincing it might just be the best theme park effect ever created!

Since the brick wall effect is supposed to be in the alley behind the Leaky Cauldron, I could see it being a kind of mini-show like Olivander's; you wait in a small queue, and a performer gives a short spiel about secrecy, then taps the bricks with their wand and the wall opens to let you into Diagon Alley. There would be an alternate entrance to the land, and most people would use that, especially after they've been through the brick-effect entrance once. Thus, the queue length would be self-regulating.

That's actually a very good idea. Although, I think "small queue" might be something of an underestimation

Clever thought and proposal. God forbid that the effect is so incredibly breathtaking that no one wants to rush and bypass it.

Too, if there is an effect style "room" with 100 people, how will they manage the dump zone? Imagine 100 people being dumped out of Zonko's all at once, in the high season every 10 minutes. Mercy.

In addition to the big main entrance, which will be the "show" entrance, there will also be two smaller entrance/exits on the Wyndham's Theater facade (or if you're looking at them from inside Diagon Alley, they're to each side of the Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes building).

Unfortunately we won't enter through Leaky, but instead through a nook in the Leicester Station station facade. Otherwise, that would be awesome! I'm sure space and other restrictions prevented an actual entrance through Leaky, and I'm assuming one of them probably has to do with foot traffic through Leaky, which will be an actual working restaurant.
