Feeling way more disappointed than I should be at effectively making IG an upcharge attraction. Hope they catch hell for this. But that's private equity ownership for ya.

It’s truly theme park malpractice. Even Cedar Point had free lockers for attractions that require them (Top Thrill 2, Siren’s Curse, and Steel Vengeance). I am for metal detectors being added in the name of safety, ideally with lockers in queue like VelociCoaster and Stardust (though I also understand BGT’s queues aren’t the best designed for this). I am, on the other hand, very much against it being used for profit. It screams private equity greed. If you’re going to do a metal detector locker system, the lockers should absolutely be free.

Interesting. Hopefully they are thinking about how to better approach this (I kinda doubt it though knowing Hill Path/United Parks ).

Well there it is. Glad I was able to ride Kumba back in April! I wonder what “Kumba’s Revenge” will be.

I am old and have ridden many old school wooden coasters and early steelies. Python at BGT was my first looper. Kumba was my first B&M. I thought it was slow and boring. Like a Cadillac Convertible on the interstate . Now that I am older I get it.

So any rumors on Revenge? Dream replacement would be a Mack Xtreme Spinner but I’d be thrilled with a giga. Or a Vekoma tilt—guessing since COTAland could afford it so could “United.” I know Shiekra’s nearby but that didn’t stop Cedar Point. Or maybe a clone of YoY at Walibi Holland? They might’ve burned bridges with RMC of course.

I know there were a ton of rumors a few years ago about a B&M Giga on the Kumba plot that would extend back into the service areas behind the Congo area. Given how B&M still seems to be the go-to manufacturer for the United Parks chain, that would be where my money would go at this point.

Interestingly? Impressively? This will be only the third B&M to be torn down rather than relocated. The others being Dueling Dragons and Green Lantern/Chang.

Knew this was coming but it still stings a bit. Kumba was my first big boy coaster and was the ride that changed my life. It was the rollercoaster that got me hooked, became a lifelong love and interest for coasters, themeparks, and attractions. It was my gateway.

Many of you are too young to understand the impact this coaster had on the Coaster wars of the 90s. It’s a piece of coaster history and I’m sad to see it go, but I understand why. I won’t be able to make it out there for one final ride, but I hope that everyone that does truly enjoys it.

I hope they auction off some parts of the attraction or if it heads to the landfill if anyone knows a guy let me know.

Rip to the Roar of Kumba

They've gotten rid of the flume ride since then. Instead of running into the service area behind Congo, I wonder if they would go the other direction to the flume plot. That would give them room for a decent-sized giga which would be more visible inside the park. Excuse the poor drawing, but these are the areas I'm referring to:

This buts up to the Tiger habitat. A flume is one thing but a giga could be too much for the animal habitat that close.

There's a launched Mack water coaster going into the flume plot next year, so probably not.
