So if all the raft rides have a conveyor lift system, then can we just ride up those instead of walking up all those stairs?

For the taller slides, it's too bad they couldn't use a conveyor lift similar to the People Mover queue. I guess the max angle of that incline would mean it would take up too much space if it were much taller.

It's just dawned on me that there is only going to be 3 slides in the volcano itself with the other slides having their platforms outside the volcano but having the slides entering and exiting.

I'm at a bit of a crossroads. I can't see myself riding anything that high up but I want to go up and see the view but I don't want to do the walk of shame back down.

vb stairs.jpg

The stairway is going to be terrifying. About 150ft up with only a handrail?

I get the impression that if one cannot handle the stairs or the height, then they cannot handle the slide.

Difference is every slide seems to be enclosed which should make it easier for people who are afraid of heights.

Well if it's a virtual line like they say then it should only allow one. You shouldn't be able to virtually wait in two lines at the same time.

Wait, hold up: how does this work?

If everyone is waiting for the Krakatau Aqua Coaster, as it will obviously be the to-go attraction, then the virtual "line" will notch up more and more, right? If there are no standby lines available, then nobody can do anything else but the lazy river and the wave pool. (and arcade, food, gifts, poop, etc.)

That is unless two factors:
1) if there is a TapuTapu wait of five minutes or less, a standby queue is created at a slide for that moment, or...
2) the TapuTapu virtual queue has a maximum wait time limit

Remember that Fastpass works by allowing people to do other things. While the intent is to shop and eat, people maximize their time by killing two birds with one stone: wait for one ride, while virtually waiting for the other. TapuTapu can only function properly if everything remained equal. But human beings do not function like that. So I'm kind of fascinated to see how they work around that.

(and yes the third factor is advanced ride reservations but yeah that's not happening here)

The drop mechanism will instantly chase anyone who may have had their fears quelled by that. That thing scares the heck out of me.

On a couple other notes:

My take is that the restaurant will have two entrances, one from CB and one from the park much like Rainforest Cafe. VIP seating, however, will be the ones who are able to see the water show from the volcano. (and yeah I totally see a separate CB entrance)

Also, does anybody know the possible capacity of the waterpark? I hope it's at a limit such as 15k to 20k to keep things a bit at ease but who knows?

Based on Wrestlemania occuring in Orlando and Comcast having the non pay per view rights to WWE, I'm guessing there will be some synergy and previews will start for the park in April especially with all those guests and free promotion.

I kinda know of the early research they did around the world, more specifically the Central Florida market. Interviews with the creators have not been overblown. Spreadsheets for VB capacity laid out next to every other waterpark. They analyzed the hell out of it. And yet I never knew about this TapuTapu thingy!

Gimmee some time and I may be able to provide some numbers.

Kind of reminds me of USF being certain that everything was just a little bit better than Disney in 1990, such as the bathrooms having more stalls and the hot dogs being 25% bigger.

Don't forget about this little detail!!!

"Ohno Drop Slide
To achieve even greater bragging rights, brave the rope bridge and plunge down Ohno, a serpentine adventure that ends six feet above the pool below. Be sure to yell your battle cry on the way down."

Seems once you're up there you'll have to cross a rope bridge over the open volcano to get to one of the slides.

Not completely true.

I have a crippling fear of heights. I freeze up on those staircases. I tremble. I get almost irrational, yet I can ride slides like Summit Plummet or Bomb Bay with no problem.
