  1. Its going to be a long day of climbing stairs with no waits. At least when there is a line you get to rest on the stairs on the way up. If there is no line you are climbing at least 3 stories worth of stairs all day long. Those drop slides will be a fun climb up 100+ feet.

My wife has a mild form of muscular dystrophy and has difficulty climbing steps. She can do it, but just has to take her time. For example, the stair climb from the elevator in Gringotts to the level with the vehicles is really hard for her, but because there is usually a line there and you stop every so often, she can do it. She's given up on the usual climbs at most water parks because the steps are just too daunting. Given this is a brand newly designed park, I'm wondering if they will have some kind of accessibility plan.

On a separate note - I wonder if the presale tickets will be good thru XXXXX date..and I'm assuming they won't guarantee entrance on a particular day due to capacity issues...I can't imagine they will use the Discovery Cove model where you book a particular day.....

I suppose it will depend on demand... same for park tickets. I wouldn't be surprised to see discounts for hotel guests if demand is somewhat slight.

I don't think it'll be any different than a normal waterpark as far as time between climbs. It's not like you'll climb to the top of one, slide down, and immediately go climb another one. There will be a wait before you can get in line for the next one due to the virtual queuing. And, just for capacity reasons like you said, they are going to stack some people in line. I'm guessing they'll probably keep the top 20%-ish of the queue full, so you will get a little bit of a break before you slide.

I'm guessing there will be some form of Express Pass available.

Whether it allows you to walk onto any ride or drastically reduces your wait time. I would also guess that it would be available to the more premium hotels.

I think some people are expecting to rock up and there be no queue there at all... there will always be a small queue generated, remember you don't just get on a ride and go, you have to wait until the previous person has normally completed the slide so that will cause a small waiting time also if it is a raft ride you have the loading time. Additionally if you have a 15 minute timer, if you are close to the attraction there is a good chance you will head there once the band starts to alert you so will probably wait a little then. I have no experience with this form of queue just trying to view it with a little common sense, I think the queuing system sounds great and hopefully it works out successfully, nothing worse than standing in the sun drying off until you start burning with the floor burning your feet waiting 45 mins to go down a slide that lasts 30 seconds ha.

With regards to the video I thoroughly enjoyed it and the two promotional videos have been incredibly detailed, very impressed. I think this second video has taken away much of the guessing now for most of what we see in terms of ride locations etc which I will miss trying to predict however watching them transform into the final products is still going to be fascinating.

Couple pointers from the video for me:

Surprised how low the wall is between the rapids river as it passes between the drops of the water coaster, one side has rock work between the water coaster and the river however the other side has a railing but that does not seem to stretch past the lowest part. I am personally sensible enough to stay in my ring, just makes you wonder about younger kids etc climbing onto the wall, maybe there will be a life guard overlooking that section? Would be cool if you get splashed by passing coaster rafts!

I have also always been fascinated as to how we get to the top of the volcano, now I usual hate long stairs however it looks like this will be the way to the top and personally if I was going to have to climb up that amount of stairs for anything it would be climbing the inside of a volcano that I wouldn't mind! Should get some good views of the park. Couple screen grabs below for a better Idea of the stairs, we have seen the steel for a while now extending out into the volcano and this just confirms what those platforms are now for.

I have said on here before that I would love it if they had a wave pool to match the intensity of Typhoon lagoons and even though the over all design and shape of the pool does not resemble a wave pool that will have breaking waves, if this video is as accurate as it has been then the screen shot below would have us thinking these waves are going to be big enough to break properly rather than just have you bobbing about in rough water. Seeing some of the construction vehicles in past pictures would definitely give the impression it is deep enough for reasonable large waves. Screen grab just shows the waves breaking to the bottom right, video shows from different angles that the waves will potentially break from the centre working out towards the edges of the pool.

They should give experienced climbers the option to rock climb up to the slide platforms. :shades:

I get the feeling that what they're trying to achieve is more realistic waves like what you would have on a real beach. Maybe they'll be able to vary the intensity, like, say, when the volcano erupts it creates a big wave or two.

How many attractions is the tap system going to allow?

If you can tap into everything when you arrive it would be great to relax until it goes off for each ride.

Well if it's a virtual line like they say then it should only allow one. You shouldn't be able to virtually wait in two lines at the same time.

I have the feeling that we might be overthinking the virtual line concept. Wasn't the original Fastpass pitched in the same way? It would wait in line for you while you did something else.

That's basically what I'm expecting: Universal creating OG Fastpass. Universal has never done that concept exactly in any of their resorts. Their version of Fastpass allows hotel guests to "cut" the line.

I suck at walking, stairs and standing. After the simulated elevator you could ask someone for the elevator to the ride, it's golden inside. Waterparks...I can't do.

I wouldn't write the Fallon ride off just yet, I got a feeling it's going to be better than most people are thinking.

In Uni we trust :)

To be fair the original version of Express Pass was nearly identical to Fast Pass.

I think people having low expectations for it could be key to its success.

Yes, I agree. We've all had low expectations up to this past announcement. Now it's sounding like it will be better than anticipated. A good entertaining D ticket family ride. (and that will be 4 family oriented new attractions in a row; Hogwart's Express, Gringotts, Reign of Kong, Jimmy Fallon). That should answer the critics that were saying Universal didn't have enough family attractions.

So if all the raft rides have a conveyor lift system, then can we just ride up those instead of walking up all those stairs?

They wouldn't be designed for that weight or safety. So no.

But what about us old, fat guys? Surely they can't expect us to hike the stairs for a few second plunge? ;)
