so will you still be able to go in a "standby" line with these new wearable's? I would be kind of annoyed if I really wanted to go on something and was told to come back in an hour (or longer!). I could see this being hard to explain to kids as well.

This will also keep the main "beach" pretty much a large waiting room area. Which may cause a bit of over crowding.

It's possible they have figured this all out, but I'm really curious how this all works. They could really screw it up if it's not balanced correctly.

If you have to return in an hour, you would have been waiting for an hour in the queue any way. Given the choice, I'd rather go around the lazy river for an hour and then walk on a ride instead of waiting an hour in a crowded stairway.

I have concerns too that the lazy river and wave pools could be drastically overcrowded. I know they tried the system at Wet n Wild but it's going to be a big difference between using the system at a dying park and the hottest ticket in town.

Now this is really interesting:

“And when I say ‘tap in,’ there’ll be this tiki totem out in front of each ride where guests can then use that island bracelet they were issued when they first entered the park to log into the TapuTapu virtual line system. And once they do that, these people are then free to do whatever they want in Volcano Bay. They can go grab a meal. They can go float in the lazy river, experience our action river or explore the children’s playground,” Mason said. “But when it’s finally time for that guest to experience that ride, their island bracelet will begin to vibrate. And when they look down at their wrist, these people will see that there’s now a screen there that says ’15 minutes.’ And that then gives them a countdown that lets this guest know when it’s time to return to that attraction and walk right onto that ride.”

I think the reason why all that extra stuff activated by the bands exists is because of a large amount of people who won't be in lines. I also think that's why they made two rivers that are both more or less full-length.

All I know is that normally at water parks I feel rushed to do everything because the long lines don't give a lot of time to do all the rides, so now I am going to spend a lot more time relaxing at the park. If that mentality is common, then a lot of the people who would be in the lines would now just be on lounge chairs or the cabanas.

They need to talk up spill proof cups for alcoholic beverages to drink on the lazy river. Dependent on the depth. I know some other water parks lazy/adventure rivers go as deep as 8ft in some areas which could be a safety hazard if drunk but still.

Maybe they'll cap the number of guests each day (like Discovery Cove) to make it a more "boutiquey" and relaxing overall experience (and justify higher ticket prices)?

I've been thinking this for a long, long time. I'm not convinced they'll cap attendance until the 3rd gate opens. In the mean time, they will make it expensive to keep attendance lower. But, I see VB more as a Discovery Cove competitor than a Aquatica competitor.

If that's true, what's Disney's next move?

Does this mean an all inclusive food and drink kind of deal?

I think to compete with Discovery Cove, you really need to add an experience like swimming with dolphins and no water park attraction can compete with that and I don't think Disney or Universal would want to given the toxic backlash about having marine animals in parks.

The Universal Orlando 3 Park Explorer Ticket which inc VB from the Universal UK tickets site is £241 for an Adult ticket and it says the ticket is Valid from 1st June 2017

That equates to about US$300. The current equivalent ticket is $250 (the 3-Park Unlimited, which includes USF, IoA, and WnW).

Yep, he's so right. Two or three drinks for me, and I stop. I like a little buzz, but I hate that wasted feeling. I'm just a little pup. Mark (UK Trigg), Dave (Disneyhead) and Bob Wadd (Pixels at the Parks.com) are the Big Dogs. :):D
