Might I also say, I really love this idea! The concept of the buildings looking like they weren't built or naturally grown, but instead conjured up using Evil Disney magic; that's a really interesting take! And this moodboard provides an incredibly clear look at it in practice. Can't wait to see what they come up with here.

New Fantasyland doesn't get enough praise for how much it nails the visual style of each of those classic animated films, and I'm certain with this direction they can match their previous efforts with this Villain expansion.

Andreas is an incredible talent, and it's only a positive sign that he is attached to this project.

Pictures/Videos do no justice whatsoever.
This is not a picture of the Mona Lisa where there is only one way to see it and you will only ever gleam that same amount of information no matter how great the best camera in the world taking the photograph of it is. This is a lived in, three-dimensional space that you have to walk through to see certain things the way they were physically intended to be witnessed. For the Disney people designing a lived in, three-dimensional space that is going to be sought out by just as many -if not MORE- people, it makes perfect sense that they'd want to go and see and feel these places themselves.

This is one of the Disney expenses we should be applauding, not dismissing.
We wouldn't have gotten Animal Kingdom without trips like this - who knows what else.

Couldn’t agree more. In pictures, you can’t tell that the famous benches in Park Guell are just at the end of a bunch of unshaded pavement/gravel. Wait until the Imagineers see that! The guys who built Toy Story Land are about to eat their hearts out!

NEW Permit Outlines 33-Acre Construction Project for Cars Land & Villains Land Coming to Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World has filed a new permit for work related to a Cars-themed area and a Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom
blogmickey.com blogmickey.com

Have been quiet on Villains, but to speak of a matter--there is a rumor I have heard for an additional attraction.

Think people will be very happy about what it is.

Disney intently cares about the importance of what Villains will be doing for Magic Kingdom, and they're intently treating it as a massive project that is being given all the love that it god forbid can.

BREAKING: Attraction Building Layouts Revealed for Villains Land & Cars Land at Magic Kingdom

A new document filed by Walt Disney World has revealed the building layouts for Villains Land and Cars Land at Magic Kingdom
blogmickey.com blogmickey.com

The Villains layout seems very weird to me. Only three (guest-facing) structures in an entire new land?

Presumably it will be "blocks" of buildings with the appearance of multiple structures like Dark Universe, Hogsmeade, etc.

I think this is right, but I also agree that the layout looks a bit bizarre.

Permit doesn't feature landscape features, rockwork, etc. I think this is a simple map displaying the general area a building will be.

I overlayed the permit over a Blue Sky map I made, lines up with most of what I had. Good idea of what to expect.

It just doesn't seem like there could possibly be much of a village feeling to the area with those buildings in that configuration (which, in fairness, is not what has been publicly promised), even if those buildings contain multiple locations.

I think, even with this layout, you’re looking at three (maybe four) attractions. Specifically, there is potential for an outdoor coaster, which allows one of the buildings (likely top right) to include a major store/restaurant with the queue and station without eating into attraction space. The top-left building is the major dark ride. A flat goes in the central area, with skinny building potentially providing queue and/or meet and greet space.

The “weird” square building is obviously a portal.

Structurally, this layout reminds me of Berk.

If they were smart, they would have the a spinner that goes backwards and/or a carousel that does the same. Sell it as the “reverse Fantasyland”.

I think it’s an E ticket dark ride, coaster that’s big thunder level of thrill but amped slightly, and a flat ride.

I thought i remember reading/hearing that there's a COASTER and a DARK RIDE as the two attractions - not a dark-ride-coaster-hybrid as one of the two - but i'd have to delve back into that research to find the sauce.

Yeah, I think Cars has the E-Ticket car ride and a flat ride, and Villains has a coaster & dark ride (TDS Pan/Avengers ride system?).

I also recall discussion of a Villains dark ride, and a Hagrid's-style Maleficent coaster. Would love to see a flat, but I'm unconfident in the chances of that.

Is Villains going to connect to Fantasyland at all? That feels like a natural thing, though I suppose I'm unsure on where exactly the Fantasyland-side entrance would actually be placed.

I think it will only connect to Fantasyland if the plot(s) behind Small World and New Fantasyland ever get developed.

As-is, any connecting path would end up having to cut through some of that area anyway, but the theming required to hide back-of-house stuff and avoid necessary service roads/entrances would probably be cost-prohibitive without a larger expense (i.e. another expansion) to justify it.

I'm holding out hope they go with trackless for Villains. it would truly make it MK's ROTR. I guess we will find out at D23 2026 what the attractions will entail.
