I think I can get to work on this attraction based on what I heard recently, pretty excited.

Here's possibly the biggest part of this announcement:



Illumination Avenue, not just Minions Land.

I'll take a BMG replacement and Rip Ride retheme for 500, Alex.

I know it's unlikely, but retheming it to the Super Silly Fun Coaster from DM1 would be really fun.

TBH I think they're referring to the Hello Kitty store and not much else

Interesting that Illumination is getting shoved into a small strip of land

I personally think they could expand a bit more on the illumination properties presence

The more I think about it the more I like the idea of Illumination being the focus of a land and not just the Minions. Hopefully they bring a variety of properties into the area and even expand into BMG theater. I like that Illumination and Dreamworks are both getting separate “best of” lands in the park. Normally “Illuminations” or “Dreamworks” aren’t themes on their own (same as “Pixar,” which I despise Disney for treating as a “theme”), but they both fit naturally into the USF in this format because it’s… a studio.

The more I think about it the more I like the idea of Illumination being the focus of a land and not just the Minions. Hopefully they bring a variety of properties into the area and even expand into BMG theater. I like that Illumination and Dreamworks are both getting separate “best of” lands in the park. BMG can be used for a decent sized dark ride. However the Minion Mayhem ride system dates back to 1990 and as someone else suggested on this exact forum could be nearing the end of it's lifecycle. Maybe this Villain Con attraction is being done to prepare for Minion Mayhem being retired in the future and the building to be used for another IP like Sing on Tour or a small scale dark ride.

I don't think a different Illumination IP would replace Minion Mayhem when the area it's in is literally called "Minions Land" lol.

"Other surprises inspired by popular characters from Illumination’s blockbuster franchises.” I straight up don't believe this is in reference to other Illumination IPs taking over an existing attraction within Minions Land. This is probably referring to meet-and-greets, mini-shows, merch, and easter eggs.

I think the most likely situation is that a brand-new Minion attraction replaces Minion Mayhem.

When they announced the Illumination Avenue part of me began to wonder if they would expand into the area to the left of Rip Ride Rocket. I also wonder what IP they would use. Maybe Sing on Tour as that is also speculated to come to USH on the upper lot in their Illumination land or Maybe an improved Secret Life of Pets ride since SLOP 3 was announced to be in development recently. Or maybe by the time they get around to expanding with Illumination IP there will be a new property worth using for a ride.

Tbh, I just don't see this land expanding towards Rockit and BMG or featuring a different Illumination IP as an attraction within the land.

Almost no chance I'd say. In this interview, he makes it very clear at the beginning that he didn't want to do another one.

I'm hoping they'd eventually expand the footprint a bit - maybe include BMG and a M&G/theming on Sunset Blvd.

If what we're hearing is correct, there's going to be minimal dressings on the SS40 (like Mayhem)

So I'm taking the word "land" pretty unseriously

It's Production Central, but Minions

Basically HHN will look the same, just with some different cut outs on the Shrek (SS40) building lol

I think anyone expecting a new “land” should temper expectations. The street Minion Mayhem is on is literally already called Ilumination Ave. I took the release as UO just describing where within Production Central (as in, it’s not taking the whole area because HRRR will still exist as is) this “Minion Land” (aka, a concentration of Minion-themed venues) will be located once the walk-through and restaurant are opened. Maybe they’ll replace the Donkey meet and greet with rotating characters and that’s about all I’d expect.

Like the previous poster said, I can definitely see them doing M&Gs at the old Shrek M&G area
