Even the original park was not all about movie making. JAWS and BttF had nothing to do with being behind the scenes, and E.T. and Kong only had loose connections to that theme. There’s still a lot in the park today (Mummy, E.T., Animal Actors, Horror Makeup, RRR, backlot facade theming, Fallon, ect.) that connects to a production/studio theme, so I think production central is still a strong enough entrance thematically.

Just checked, some new lighting fixtures being set up in the queue.

However, I also bring sad news, for the hot set alarm has been removed.

Entrance arch to the lot. Lost & Found and lockers are props, MyPictures themed to film cameras for rent, then Soundstages for production, and then the "backlot" sets for the rest of the park. Worked way better before they added HRRR and got rid of the boneyard.

I think it also helped with the exit next to ET and the Psycho sets instead of right next to the entrance (or at least that is the exit we always used but we did eat at Hard Rock before heading home).

Nickelodeon existing also helped to flesh out the area a bit

Either way, it's time to move on from the soundstage look IMO

This won’t change until 2035 if I had a legit guess.

Ideally I think this area could be really fun if they lean into the soundstage/backlot setting and decorate it with sculptures of minions (mis)handling filming equipment and props. Combined with the attractions it could be a cost effective way to give the area more identity as the “minion land” while staying true to the design of the park and would require little change to the soundstages.

Too many other projects to focus on. Epic in 2025, Kidzone Ride (hopefully for 2026), LC replacement 2027, EU expansion somewhere 2028, Fast and Furious needs to be replaced… there’s other stuff to do. If it’s not happening now then to me it’s not changing for a bit.

Methinks:
2023 - Villain-Con
2024 - KidZone Replacement
2025 - EU
2026 - IoA Expansion (replacing TL Theater?)
2027 - Dark Ride in DreamWorks KidZone
2028 - Lord of the Rings in EU
2029 - Simpsons Replacement (contract expires 2028)

Also I imagine at some point, a replacement for MIB, and JPRA. Pushing it back even more…

With all the areas I think need to be urgently addressed (many mentioned above... but not all!), making the entry of USF more cohesive would be way down my priority list.

I don't love the idea of half-hearted (or full-hearted) Minions theme work sort of fused onto the existing Production Central, but I'd much rather Universal spend their time and effort on other areas (i.e. new rides in under-utilized spaces/replacing currently bad attractions).

TL Theater and whatever they're doing with LC Theater.

I have a sad feeling they're not gonna do anything with the Sinbad theater until it's time for LC to turn into Zelda (or whatever they do with it).

They could always bring Sinbad back... Just sayin'... :(

As much as Universal has made little to no effort to offer seated entertainment offerings, I do think each park should have at least one theater.

With the Illumination take over, is a "Sing" rubber head show planned for the Music Plaza/stage?

I’d like to see the BMG theater reclaimed for USF, could be a potential venue for something?

I don’t want to stand in the middle of that plaza for a show during the day.

This is what I want to see. A nice, large indoor venue that could be used for either rotating shows or a more permanent one. They could also use some of the plaza area for some light theming or a merch/food location.
