You might be going crazy, yes. It was inevitable man. ;)

But yeah, those are my thoughts. Well because it's inevitable and I'm realistic. BTTF is one of my all time favorite rides and franchises and has meant a lot to me, and I'm devastated I can't make it to Japan to ride it one more time, but I doubt they'd update the film/storyline to another year besides 2015, and with 2015 being in...oh, less than 2 months, it only makes sense.

So if anything should replace BTTF, it should be Universal's most enduring and popular (and probably timeless) animated franchise that makes a ton of money. And as usual, Japan would get the upper hand and would get the most advanced/updated version of the ride.

However, if it replaces BTTF, it won't be able to be 3D IN Japan due to the curbed Omnimax screen. But I'd honestly rather have a massive encompassing screen where it's tough to see the edges than what we currently have: 3D but very obviously looking at a screen with visible edges.

According to a rumor from Screamscape, USJ is looking to possibly replace either BTTF or T23D with Despicable Me Minion Mayhem.

A possible another T23D loss...? :-(

I'm going to say it'll be T2 thanks to the existing blueprints.

BTTF will probably hilariously stay put until it's bulldozed to become Diagon Alley or something.

I really hope it's not T2....only cuz I feel like in Japan they're spoiled with more amazing rides and our Minion Mayhem ride isn't exactly the most technologically amazing experience. I'd think they'd improve on what we have. But hey, we'll see.

Technically after 2015, still calling the ride "Back to the Future" makes perfect sense. Afterall, the story in the end is about us getting back to the present/our current time. Which, when visiting 2015, the ice age, and Dino age, is then our future!

It is indeed the last BTTF ride on the planet still existing. The only reason it actually does is due to the fact that the Japanese notoriously do not care for "The Simpsons". I believe the show doesn't air in the country very much and the movie actually bombed there. (it was the only country where the 2007 film did so) So the overlay/upgrade was never built and they instead kept BTTF.

USJ really is a lot of old Universal and new Universal still intact in one place. Except E.T. He's only in Florida, so it's not perfect.

^ It's very much "The Best of Universal", except for the loss of ET...

Except that their ET replacement is a unique and very well made and exciting spinning coaster through outer space with fantastic special effects and not a short length, all compared to our Mummy ride, which is in the exact same size building.

Thank god USJ didn't just simply port our Mummy ride into their ET...

Yup! Same thing in the movies. Marty goes to 1955 and tries to get Back To The Future, which is his usual present.

So in the ride after 2015, we wouldn't go into the FURTHER future, but we would technically still go Back To the future after visiting the extreme past :)

The fact that they try to say that the IFT was in BTTF Part II is hilarious. Do they really think the Japanese are that gullible?

^ I'll second that! Any and all pics and videos of BTTF as possible! Japan is ridiculously strict but if you somehow can, PLEASE take an HD video of BTTF. If you can do it as inconspicuously as possible!

And honestly, anything else would be awesome as well! USJ is an amazing park!

If you have time/money, you should visit Tokyo Disney Resort as well, especially DisneySea!

Here's footage including BTTF. The Ride footage in BTTF is bad, but I hope I make up with that with filming the complete giftshop. ;-)

Here are download links for my raw high quality footage that I've recorded in Japan.

Will Japan get Diagon Alley and Hogwarts Express? Do they have enough land for it?
