Like jerroddragon said - Diagon Alley is around 20 acres.

So this entire park is less than 2 Diagon Alleys lol
Well, it's Diagon Alley and a half.

The entire area is 97 acres, but that's including the hotel, parking, future additions, etc. The park itself is 32.

But this isn't a theme park, per se. Everyone is making this park something it isn't. They're not trying to make the next big theme park, and the town certainly doesn't want that kind of crowd. This park is entirely 32 acres and is meant to be more regionally based. That means it's basically the right side of IOA (not counting FJ) - and that's meant to include ops, BOH, restaurants, and other services.

It can be the same size and offer theming, like I don't understand why thats so controversial.

If you showed a kids a park like this or one with the same rides but with theming which would they choose?

What harm is it to make the Trolls area something that can glow at night like in the movies and like Avatar land?

Also once again to compare to Disneyland, people can be like "well this is the standard" well Universal took standards in the last 20 years and improved those. Most would say HP is much better then Star Wars Galaxy edge at Disneyland and HHN took what knotts and other haunts were doing and turned it to 11.

So this could be a chance to make a new standard in these mini parks, which I think are a great idea. I mean I think Universal if they put money into these could one in CA near San Diego and use IPs they can't fit in Hollywood but it's strange to make a park and be like we only want to make the park draw X people and never more, maybe this was not the right town for it then if they don't want people visiting the park they are allowing to build

HHN in Vegas said it can only hold 3ish people according to the poster on the wall I saw and they went all out

Once again, I'm not calling for dark rides but I don't think any of these rides even touch Casey Jr at Disneyland in terms of theming and when you have Dinosaurs not having a show feels like a big miss opportunity. It does have to be T Rex's we have more mid sized Dinosaurs they could be featuring

Anyway, I know the park wont change, I just wish they could have found ways to use the space to make a more immersive attraction's for families and adults like me who like cartoons. Dog man is still my favorite film of the year, I loved animated movies even if they aren't aimed directly at me but a good writer knows how to make it where a child and adult come away with some new and this once again is why I dislike the excuse of "its for kids"

(PS I also really enjoyed Gabby's Doll house...never seen the show before but the movie was really good and now exctied Gabby has a mini area in a park)

Misread that.. oops.

I just measured on Google Maps, and it seems the actual park is closer to 20 acres (not counting hotel area)

Because extensive theming take up space and they have to fit a whole park into 1.5 Diagon Alleys. I'm not saying this park is going to win any thematic awards, but let's wait til the park is also done to see what they've done.

Again, this isn't meant to compete with Disneyland in any way, shape, or form.

With kids, dark rides are hit or miss. In my experience with my nieces and nephews they're often scared of any ride where they can't see what it does. They LOVE the little spinning flat rides and coasters. That's part of why when you go to Magic Kingdom Dumbo, Alladin, and Star Jets all have ridiculous waits for simple rides.

Sesame Place is a great example of small space that feels bigger than it is when you're there with kids. Everything is close by, but it still feels like a "big" park. I think Universal Kids could be a huge success.

I'm genuinely curious to see how the food looks for this park. That's something that they can easily inject a good bit of theming into.

I know I'm preaching to the choir and echoing what's already been said and am also sure it's a licensing issue but it's absolutely insane to have a SpongeBob themed land without a Krusty Krab/Krabby Patty. Like you had ONE job for a restaurant/themed food...

I believe as it relates to APs at this park; which I believe they will sell a ton of:

I wouldn’t be surprised if they added an AP option that includes the Florida parks similar to what sesame place does with SW. What better way to force some DFW folks to be on-site guests over at UOR with AP hotel discounts? Gets you more high spending out of towners.

Parkscope Joe said:
Here's what I think they're going to do. Admission will be advertised around the Volcano Bay level ($80-100) but frequently offer discounts and deals locally to get guests in around $60 per person with some discounts up to $35 per person (the price of admission to Peppa Pig park SW of Dallas).
North Richland Hills/Hurst and its surrounding area in Tarrant county is (where Peppa pig is) is nowhere close to the demographic that Frisco and Collin County is. The parking lot will be completely full of luxury SUVs. Countless Porsche Cayennes and G Wagons will be spotted.

And as someone who owns a very large residential focused business here locally- there is a cheap demographic in this area (who have money but are super cheap) that they need to be cognizant of. And they need to make sure they’re actively drawing the spending class vs the budget class in our area (all are pretty wealthy). Meaning no dining plans, no exploitable AP perks, etc.

That said- I don’t think we’ll ever see the prices less than $59 even on sale.

Alicia said:
The theming looks to be elevated above some other kids parks, and the play areas seem top notch.
Exactly this. Play areas take minimal ops, minimal maintenance, and will keep kids occupied for hours and hours. Spending money and attention on these I would argue is the most important part of the entire park if it gets kids coming back over and over and over.

And lest we forget; we’re probably 2 years away from the added water park. I foresee them starting construction on the additional area within a year.

All the posts this one innocent comment spawned about size. “It’s 1.6 diagon alleys” :lmao:

It’s the size of HTTYD. Pretty much exactly. That’s the best comparison.

Wanted to make some notes for the On-site hotel since Universal's own blog didn't cover it.

- 1 Hour Early Entry Included
- Dedicated Entrance to the Park. I would assume similar to Universal Beijing with a dedicated security line as well. The hotel setups are very similar.
- Resort Delivery from in-park purchased. Are you listening, Disney?

Everything will be key accessed- not a band or RFID.

Diagon Alley is actually under 8 acres, not 20.

I get this isn't a "full" Universal park, but they've built up a reputation of offering a certain quality when it comes to attractions and this just seems to fall a bit short imo. SLoP at USH takes up about an acre, so there was definitely room to fit one or two small dark rides in here.

A lot of adults are having trouble accepting that this park isn't for us LOL Kids can spend hours having fun at a normal playground at any random park in the country. The theming they have is more than enough for the lil' kids age group. It's going to be a home run with my kids for sure

We don’t know how much they spent on SLoP. But ballpark? $100m? Excluding maintenance costs.

This entire park is $500m. With a hotel.
A high quality dark ride never was in the cards with this budget. The budget trumps everything. Would I love a $1b park? Sure. But why stop there? How about $2b? That’d be even better.

But the budget isn’t $1b, it’s $500m; because it’s a $500m park.

And as far as Universal’s reputation is concerned, I fully expect this to be the most well themed kids park in the country. Better themed than peppa, Sesame Street or Lego land. And I expect its added future water park to be equally better themed.
People are going to leave saying “wow, that was really cute.” And that’s all they need.

Yeah, I think the "20 acres' figure got mixed up - because 20 acres is Hogsmeade/Diagon Alley combined!
