Yep. But Legoland's hotel is open 365 days a year. UKR's isn't. I'm not sure how much they can take away from that model.

It's not? I tried booking 11/2 - 11/5 and it lets me. Park is supposed to be closed in that window. So maybe outside of that window in January they won't let you book, but it seems like they'll be operating the hotel when park is closed.

Cedar Point has the Hotel Breakers attached…I believe during the fall when they’re only open Thursday through Sunday they just have everyone check out Monday morning, close Tuesday, and resume check-ins Wednesday afternoon.

That's a legit option.

It's been a while since I tried booking dates when the park is closed. It used to not let me. I'll ask about that tomorrow.

Good find!

I got some answers when I swung by the hotel on my lunch break. The hotel is indeed open 365. I asked if that was always the case, explaining that in the first week or so of reservations, I wasn't able to book on days the park was closed. I couldn't get an answer on that one.

Maybe it was a website glitch (there were many in the early days of this resort) or those days simply hadn't loaded yet.

What's interesting is that you can book those rooms without knowing that the park is unavailable during your stay. There is no language on those pages alerting guests to that fact.

Anyway, thanks for keeping me honest!

So, when you select your dates, this is on the screen with the date picker:

That's how I knew which dates to check.

Ah! It's in the modal that pops up when you add the date, not in the static page. And it's showing up below the bottom of my laptop screen, completely out of sight.

I actually saw it last night, but not this afternoon because my dates were cached and still populating the check-in/out fields. I just clicked submit on that screen without seeing the notice.

So while they're letting us know, the UI could be greatly improved. If I designed this page, I'd show an alert once users add those dates to ensure they're fully aware that the park isn't open.

Yeah, I think that's fair. Put it up at the top! Maybe do an alert that pops up when you select dates the park is closed.

The Universal Kids Resort parking lot today at 1pm. Granted, this doesn't count resort guests, but It's safe to say they change the schedule next year.

Yeah, NTX isn't a tourist destination. So with school in, it's going to be a small number of guests. And they will need to build up their education program to bring students in, including homeschoolers. Less expensive tickets. It's what LEGOLAND Florida did at the start to keep attendance in the park during the school seaso,n considering the distance between Orlando and Winter Haven.

That’s maybe 50 cars? At most 200 guests?

Not good, pal. Not good.

Like @MAC mentioned- they’ll need to take a queue from what the other locations (even on our area) do at this time of year- offer discounts and have school programs. Meow wolf, kidzania, etc- all offer “home school” like pricing.

We have a huge homeschool population in this area. There is no reason they can’t appeal to many of them.

Just sayin', now is a really slow time for Theme Parks. Occ. Rates at UOR are in the 50% region. That all changes later this week when HHN starts.

Maybe UKR can show together a Trick or Treat Trail for spooky season.

Exactly. There are paths here, but they're not paths that UO has experience in (though, I know they have leaders in their org that have worked at Merlin, have worked at LEGOLAND Florida, have worked even at the Merlin Midways, and I believe they hired from Six Flags for Universal Kids Resort). They've got to rethink how they do everything when they can't just naturally draw on the millions of guests who visit the area.

I was there around 11. With today's rain and slightly lower temps, I expected a few more people to show up.

Other than football and band practices, nobody is going outside. Well, other than me. My dog still wants three walks a day.

Ticket deals would definitely help. But even the APs are staying away because of this heat. I hope UKR gets more traffic once fall arrives. I've talked to several homeschool families who are planning to go, but not when it's 100.

Yeah, Six Flags Over Texas is closed during the week right now and Peppa Pig is open limited hours (10-3 today) six days a week (closed Wednesday). If the park wants to get more people out during the summer, they'd really have to invest in more indoor or covered spaces.

I will, never, understand why the company made this park. I don’t see how it’s ever profitable or a draw, at all. I hate to keep dunking on this place but I just, I don’t…. get this.

Genuinely why not make this space in Orlando, a proven market? With connection to other resorts?

Also why is this company insistent on no shade at new parks?

I’m truly just baffled by this company post Epic opening.
