It’s definitely an improvement, but a big enough improvement to warrant the cost instead of just building new? Not sure.

Oh I'm sure WDI has figured out how to overspend on this project someway. Wouldn't surprise me to find out that a new build would have been cheaper to build than replacing Dinosaur later on lol

I also think they still should have found a way to truly add another new ride somewhere in the park as part of this overall project.

May Epic will kick AK down to the point where they have to add more. After nearly 30 years, AK should at least have as much to do as Epic Universe.

I've become an AK defender over the past year, as I do believe the nature trails, shows, and street entertainment do a lot to plus up the offerings of this park, but even I agree with you here. AK needs solid additions, not trade-ins. Indy and Encanto will clearly be much more popular than Dinosaur and PW, but it won't help the fact that the park has like 5 rides.

I worry AK will suffer the same "Oops! All E-Tickets" fate that DHS currently is dealing with. You can't ride anything besides Star Tours for less than a 35 minute wait at DHS, and I feel like that issue could probably move to DAK too with Dinosaur gone.

You're right, but it will help that Animal Kingdom has a really nice, lush vibe. Hollywood Studios' acres of concrete surrounded by tan boxes bums me the hell out.

Sure but I doubt this will effect much

Disney wants to work on the Encanto ride first and then close this when its closer to opening since not as much work will be done

I see this as a win because if they closed it now or late...wont affect much since Disney can only work on so much at once anyway

I have to imagine work walls will be up around the rest of the area halfway through the year, except the path directly to and from the ride. Even the facade may be completely covered in scaffolding and work on exterior may begin before the ride even closes.

They also have that side BoH gate just to the right of the park entrance if they need additional access.

The closure of Dinosaur will severely hurt DAK's capacity, so it makes sense for them to want to close it as late as they possibly can.

While I'm glad it now seems likely I will get one last ride on Dinosaur when I visit Orlando next November (pending Epic Universe ticket options expanding within the next few months), it does feel like they're anticipating a relatively short turnaround time from Dinosaur to Indy.

There had been talk from some insiders on Magic that Imagineering was intending for this to be the definitive version of an Indiana Jones ride, and that they were going to throw everything at it. I hope they have the time and resources to pull that off, because if it ends up feeling more like a Dinosaur overlay (i.e. lots of dark space), that will be a fail.

I love Dinosaur, but Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland is on a whole other level, and they need to attempt to match that. And that means lots of sets.

I'm really happy actually ☺️. Finally going to Orlando again next year after years and I was hoping Dinosaur would stick around for that trip since it was my favorite ride as a kid

Unfortunately, it would be a totally WDW Leadership thing to do to throw half-baked show scenes into the existing scenery and tout it as something as special as the other two versions.

It would be good if they could keep it open during the overhaul of the exterior, but it’s still going to have to go down for awhile if the interior changes are substantial.

Indy at TDS was just as good, if not better than Disneyland. It wasn't so different, but all the effects were working during both my rides and the lighting was pretty awesome. I don't know if TDS has frequent issues or breakdowns like DL, but I hope AK's version runs more consistently.

Fully agreed, with everything generally working, Indy is easily one of my favorite attractions along with the likes of Spider-Man. To me it's one of the few attractions which truly captures the wild adventure the franchise has, and the reveal of the main temple on the ride with the other jeeps careening around is one of the best there is.

But yes, they'll need to add a LOT of sets if they wanna' match the other Indy's. Question is will they have the time and resources to do so?

If they are closing Dinosaur for this, I want whatever replaces it to be the best and most unique ride it could possibly be. Don't close my favorite ride and then cheap out on the replacement. It's like spitting in the wound.
