Bump...Question:

What do you guys think of the chances that Universal might annonce a ride on May 19th that would go into SS44?

Unlikely, but I guess it could happen.

One in a million.

I'm sure something will come to SS 44 one day, but it appears that it is currently the least of Universal's worries.

Oh no where near it, it was an interactive show, and you helped Angela Lansbury solve a mystery. The thing that sucked about it was it was 3 theaters I believe and you had to get up and move to each theater for each seperate scene.

I remember that show and the Xena show that came after it. Back in the good old days. Disaster is kind of similar to how these were, except at the end there was a sit down show, and not a ride.

Not a very good chance, I have it on good authority that there are at LEAST 10 other things in the works ahead of them even THINKING about SS44

I can't believe USF primarys aren't centered a-bit around the old SS44. I understand they are replacing Neutron but THEY NEED to figure out something to put in their.

While searching the comptroller site I found this:

http://or.occompt.com/recorder/eagl...4660.pdf?id=DOC794S4181.A0&parent=DOC794S4181

Could it be for this building possibly???

Doubt it. It says it's for Building One. I'm sure if it was for the Soundstage, they would have listed it.

I was thinking this over recently, and I strongly believe that a post-production attraction needs to be put here. USF needs to strongly emphasize the "Studios" in its name. By having several more production attractions, a better connection is established with the studio area, while still keeping a majority of the normal rides. It can't just be a random movie theme park attached to a set of soundstages. It needs to be more than that. USF should overall focus on every aspect of film, from its creation, to its release, and to its effect on culture. The decision to remove Hitchcock next door was too, wrongheaded. However, I am happy that we have Disaster and Horror Make Up for production shows.

Some people say "The public lost interest in production shows". That's just plain false. There's no evidence that Universal put out surveys, and if they did lose interest, this would mean that the production shows at USH, USS, and DHS would be gone as well, and people would be bored during the production parts of Disaster and Horror Make Up, which they aren't. The fact is, even if it can be proved that they did lose interest, it's irrelevant. People never lose interest in anything, only the way it's being executed. Disaster is popular because it's a production show that mixes in ride elements, and Horror Make-Up constantly changes and involves horror effects, things people love. Basically, anything can be made appealing to anyone. The real reason for Hitchcock's closure was that it suffered from lack of improvements to increase revisitability. The fact that it involved production has zip to do with it. Saying "The public lost interest in this and there is no way to make it appealing again to them" is, at best, close-minded thinking.

Universal needs to give the park a coherent feel, and to do that, they need to make the "Studios" aspect one of the main attractions again, along with "Ride the Movies" as they did originally. Plus, as some members here have mentioned before, they need to make the name "Production Central" make more sense again. An attraction of such in this abandoned building should be the first step.

^ Well said. Also, IMO, they really should reintroduce the studio tram tour.

After they get some filming done on the lot. They need to start to use the theming around USF for some big motion picture.

....and not Make it or Break it. < A fail by-the-way.

I would love to see a fictional Late Night type show. Jimmy Fallon is a good sport at doing stuff for Hollywood and is under NBC contracts anyway. I would love to see a show that is themed to the hectic schecule and process of getting a taped show on the air every weeknight possible. They can have the three act show like they did in shows prior but even better than ever. One showing you the writing team/pre production guest bookings, the second pre taped funny bits for the show/rehersal, and the final room can be the show ready to go in front of a live audience. The best part is it could have elements mixed with witty actors and guest filling in some of the spots.

I would love it anyway. I had this idea once for the spot using Conan..but then ya know. Ha. I would still like to see it as a concept. The teams behind those shows are amazing and the productions they pump out almost nightly and having only hours to edit is quite an impressive thing. Would be nice to have it represented.

I really like that idea. Have you ever been on the studio tour at NBC in New York? They had a place where you could have a fake interview with Conan and they did one of the driving desk bits. It could be done similarly with guests filling in as the celebrities on the show. I would definitely watch that.

I really wish they would embrace the SNL branch of NBC. I would love to see it somewhere in the parks, and the sound stage is an almost perfect fit.

Hmmmm... Maybe it can be where park guest can take part in it. Like American Idol Live! but only for people wanting to act than sing. Then whoever is the best (by audience vote), gets a free ticket to an real SNL taping (and maybe a free vacation to New York, New York too).
