No. They will, as they said, focus on making the parks as safe as possible for normal, day-to-day use.

The point was, is there a rumor. Theme Park University aside, which has a so so track record, has a story on it.

I can see them hanging pumpkins near Central Park, my kids always enjoyed seeing the decorations during the day!

I wouldn’t put stock into the pathway widening rumor. Does not line up with what I understand.

If the rumor is true that the main reason (besides possible IP withdrawal as a secondary reason) they're not doing HHN in Orlando is that the city politicians wanted them to redo the houses by widening the paths and safe distancing areas of the houses, which would have been nearly impossible business wise for Universal to do at this stage of the game, then it would make business sense to use some of the non IP general park decorations/scenes that have already been made and paid for, and create a Festival of sorts to help drive attendance. Low cost and potential decent reward. It's going to be really really slow if they do nothing. .....WDW just now delaying a few August hotel openings until Nov. shows haw slow the tourist projections are. Universal needs to spur the locals to visit, in lieu of almost no tourists coming in. A Fall/Halloween Festival could really help.

Yeah, this was not a thing.

Just because it is said on the internet doesn't mean it's a rumor.

C'mon a rumor from a theme park site, whether you like the site or not, is still a rumor.......Circle the wagons. You're reaching..... Definition of rumor...a story or statement talked of as news without any proof that it is true.

I'd call that speculation more than anything. Normally when talking about theme parks, we only talk about "rumors" that have any credence behind them. There was never anything I know of or was ever talked about here seriously to back up that the county had anything to do with this.

My understanding is the county flat didn’t want them to do the event. I don’t think there was any element of negotiation to it. It was simply, “please don’t do HHN.”

I think any rumor to suggest otherwise is coming from a place of naive optimism about the perspective of HHN county officials have. They know what the event is. They know what it would have likely led to. If anyone suggested “widening the paths” it was brainstorm dump that existed just long enough to get shot down.

You just love to do your drive bys.....Of course, Mr. Know It All, rumors are rumors....BUT Theme Park University has a story on that rumor & Theme Park Stop posters repeated it, so the rumor is out there. and.... It makes more sense than starting a Construction thread the same day the event was cancelled. so, so much for your info....Sorry to be rude in return , but your post was rude and unneeded. :) sooo, let's get back to the main part of my post....namely will Universal use some of the akready paid for and made decorations for a fall/halloween type food festival? Of course it's conjecture, but it makes business sense.

I apologize, I'm letting myself get too testy and let it out on you. No one deserves that. I should have asked for clarification and explained it.

Let me expand.

The consistent information I've heard from several people came down to Netflix (which is ironic as they're currently filming for new shows using new procedures, but I digress). There are likely several other factors, such as UI not being extended yet and spikes in infections, but it was mostly the IP holder.

The "winding paths" rumor makes no sense for several reasons. First, most of those on a task force on COVID have no ideas of how theme parks are run or what HHN entails, and those who do understand frequently excuse themselves from votes and discussions. See the live stream of when they approved the reopening of UOR. Second, there are plenty of ways that have been discussed here to stop the spread that isn't "widening paths".

The rumor just sounds like speculation masquerading as inside info, like how Hagrid was supposed to be "rough".

I asked my source about this as well and they said there is no truth to widening pathways or failed inspections, and no my source isn’t a day to day park employee. I don’t talk about rumors that aren’t already out there because I don’t want anything traced to them. End of the day we are all reaching for things, because we know the parks need money, and we want something to happen. Unfortunately they have made it clear their focus is on day to day guests. At this point let’s just be grateful now they have the opportunity to really knock it out of the park next year.

I doubt it will happen but since there’s no hhn this year I would love to see the streets still decorated with old scarezone props just to give it a little bit of a Halloween atmosphere. Especially the pumpkins in trees! Like a street museum Dedicated to hhn for the people that still fly down since they already had flights booked and everything.

I said it before, but very grateful for the mods - I might not agree with EVERYTHING they do, but I can't imagine how much of an absolute nightmare it was to manage this thread.

I would truly, truly love to see some general Halloween decorations through the parks - but something tells me that won't happen.

Can we at least get the pumpkins in Central Park and pizza fries?

And this would not take much to appease the daytime guests. In fact, it may entice guests and annual pass holders to come out and see what's new. Keep in mind this would possibly come in 2 months when the luster of "the parks are open again!" wears off and they're trying to get bodies in the door again because school has started and it's up to locals to drive attendance.

Honestly they could just re do the tribute store have one room be a shop and the rest be a mini type of museum and I would be happy! My dream would be the soundstage where they had all the Harry Potter celebration stuff be a museum dedicated to hhn but that’s prob a lot to ask for lol

So... some insight based on rumors.

As of three/four weeks ago, Universal didn’t even know how they were going to do the streets this year. I figure approval for zones came late because of everything, so streets in general were behind the curve. I also know when budget cuts have to happen, streets are the always the ones that get the brunt of it. That means a lot of the plans for streets probably went through a number of last minute adjustments.

So, I don’t think, “just lay out some decorations” is as easy a solution as people think it is. For example, I’m fairly certain most of the pumpkins that are normally in Central Park are actually in a house right now (or were prepped for use in the facade). A lot of the “historical” props were set up in the Icons house. Because streets looked to be last minute this year, I’m not sure much construction was even completed on them.

While I logically expect some sort of fall decorations, Universal likely needs to figure out just what that looks like and what’s available to accomplish it.

Pumpkin King facade sounds sick! Wonder how much they leave intact or if everything’s being broken down and stored away.
