The recontextualization of the Trojan Horse as a hideous betrayal of trust that broke the fabric of society is so inspired. Truly did not expect this movie to be, like Oppenheimer, a movie about someone wrestling with the guilt of having built a device that destroyed the world.

This is as close to an onscreen Spider-Man/Punisher vs Batman fight that we'll ever see. Enjoy it.

I find this kind of movie hard to rate. On one hand, the story is full of cliches (which to me, are boring). On the other hand, The Odyssey invented those cliches.

I always appreciate Nolan's film making abilities, including relying heavily on practical effects and minimal use of CGI; the movie felt more "real" compared to other summer blockbusters. I also appreciated Nolan's more modern interpretation on the story.

I'm not a huge fan of Nolan's action/fight sequences, this movie included.

Also, was it just me or did at least part of this film feel inspired by Guillermo Del Toro?

I give it an 83/100, though I could see it going up upon a rewatch. I enjoyed Oppenheimer and Dark Knight more for sure.

There’s an interview where he’s said exactly that. A bit of advice he took from Del Toro is to never make a monster “just a monster.”
