Sounds better then what they have now

If they have drawing classes like at DCA then thats a big win, and I hope the Wonderland area will be really cool to walk around

Wasn’t there a rumor that this space was being earmarked for something that was gonna get announced around the same time as Epic and completely take the wind out of Universal’s sails?

I think that one might have missed the mark a bit lol

Not what anyone was expecting for AC - wasn't Simpsons or Zootopia supposed to be going in there by 2030 or whatever? - but this sounds like a good step for rounding out the park's offerings and a nice way to pay tribute to the real Florida animation studio (they deserve it - Disney just exploited their greatest work to the tune of a billion dollars). Launch Bay was absolutely not pulling its weight anymore, if it ever did.

I hope the playground is actually impressive; with Tom Sawyer Island and The Boneyard closed there really isn't a good play area in all of WDW right now, which is crazy.

I can't believe Disney is doubling down on not using this area to really help the park (by connecting to Sunset and by adding rides there).

According to Len, yes. However he clarified a few weeks ago that the concept was diminished and not as exciting.

DHS area returns the area to its roots, animation.. Not major news, but a nice replacement for a redundant SW area, Launch Bay, that was past its time.
Plus, this is a quick redo and will help to alleviate the kid crowding in Toy Story Land....Now that the prime rumored Simpsons area is off the charts,
perhaps Disney isn't going to do anything substantial with Simpsons and will be content to collect rights fees and merchandise cuts from Universal
for a while past 2028.

I’m more interested what’s gonna replace Disney Jr, as they didn’t specify a single thing with that I think.

Mind immediately races to this being where Bluey is stationed at.

hopefully an actual replacement to go behind AC will be finalized at D23 2028. Not holding my breath though.

I wonder if the new DJ show will pull heavily from the one that debuted at DCA. And you can introduce Bluey on both coasts at the same time.

While I don't think this is the perfect direction to go, I think they can eventually add an attached dark ride behind the building? Not a full land, just a standalone experience attached to this building?

Monsters coming up in a couple, or three years. I think we won't see any substantial additional attractions until a few years after the big Monsters expansion. There's only so much WDW will do in one park. Mermaid & Villains shows were added this year. Then the animation courtyard next year......Any other additions are probably just wishful thinking.

I'm thinking the 2nd half of their 10 year investment plan would give DHS something else.

My assumption is that Tomorrowland 3.0, Figment and something else at DHS/DAK is WDW's next big investment.

If WDW can receive 2.5 new lands and several new E-tickets in the first 5 years, I can see a similar scenario take place in the 2nd half.

Is there a reason they aren't adding Bluely to the parks?

Like Baby Shark was hugggggeeee at Sea World when I went and Bluely is even bigger. Like I just don't understand why they aren't adding shows to the parks they seem like a big win. I assume its a legal thing but after them being added to Disney cruises kind of thought Theme parks were in play next

Oh yes. But not until the 2030's decade, which probably knocks Simpsons off the board. With covid affecting both WDW and Universal timelines, though I have no insider info, I could see it in the best 'business' interests of both to extend the Simpsons contract. I'd guess the next two attractions, not counting a possible show for FF theater, will be the RRR and Supercharged replacements, which then take us well into the next decade for anything USF meaningful. Of course, I'm just guessing. But stuff seems to all be delayed at Universal from what we thought a couple of years ago.
The Lost Continent still needs to happen at IOA and an indoor attraction expansion need screams at Epic....Disney has so many underutilized very good IP's, that there's almost anything they can do in the 2030's, not counting something that appears in the future, blockbuster style.....
.One thing about DHS, they have lots of good shows, more than any other park.

I can't even decipher if there's supposed to be any actual attraction going in there, or if it's just meet-and-greets and play areas. Disney's press release is hard to follow.

Also, from the concept art, it looks like the iconic arch is going away, too.

I really think this is one of the most baffling announcements I can remember in recent memory.

This is basically Disney saying they are sick of the backlash that comes with closing original opening day attractions.

Here is something to please that demographic that evidently exists at WDW as well not just DL.

It seems very temporary and not extremely expensive “reimagining”.

Disney does a great job at making things sound more impressive than reality.

From what they announced & sources:
  • "Improved" Aesthetics of the Animation Courtyard area - trees, seating and a "cleanup" of existing areas. Outside the sorcerer's hat, nothing of substantial theming/place-making.
  • Replace the existing Star Wars M&G's with Disney characters .
    • Star Wars characters are expected to move to SWGE and find a new home. Vader might finally roam Batuu
  • Arch is being removed
  • Alice in Wonderland play space
  • New Short film
  • Lots of exhibits & interactive elements throughout.

In short, it's the idea of SW Launch Bay, but with Disney animated characters in place now.

My Blue Sky hope is that this "absorbs" the old Pixar Place side of things and we see continued theming throughout with more M&Gs or experiences.
