I don't necessarily believe what is being claimed here, but I wouldn't rule out a Jaws attraction from ever returning to the resort. The original Jaws ride is not coming back, but stuff like Kong at IOA and the tease of a BTTF coaster at the UK park shows that Universal may be willing to revisit properties if they have the right ride concept.

You'd be surprised what creatives are able to do with the right tools. 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea at Tokyo DisneySea is arguably the best "underwater" ride ever made, despite featuring no real water at all.

I do think going the submersible, "dry for wet" route could give the attraction a slight sci-fi tinge that is maybe slightly too over-the-top for JAWS (though I could easily brainstorm a ride storyline for this*), I'd love to see Universal attempt such a thing if an actual boat ride (outdoor or indoor) would be off the table. It could offer some pretty good scares if Universal wanted to go in that direction.

My preferred direction would still be an "indoor for outdoor" nighttime cruise around Amity on actual boats inside a large showbuilding.
