There’s not going to be another restaurant as aesthetically interesting as Mythos. I hate the idea of losing it.

I’d love to see some concept art of the new land, because right now I am deeply trepedatious of Pokémon. I think Pokémon is a franchise that will require profound creativity and a surprising angle to work - something like what they did with Marvel, another IP that required unconventional thinking lest you build Avengers Campus.

It’s a fair concern, but I actually trust Universal more than Disney when it comes to land design of this nature (rides, I’m less confident on).

If they go with a “Japanese suburban Berk,” I think it’ll rock.

The Lost Continent and Mythos look was almost perfect. It will be tough to recreate/create a look and feel that's comparable. Attractions though, will be easier to surpass. Sindbad, while having a very good layout, was poorly scripted. Poseiden's Fury had a great look, was kind of old school Universal, but had seen better days. I loved PF, miss it, but its time had come. It no longer connected with Universals prime demographic.

Absolutely agreed. The attractions in LC were profoundly lackluster, and I don’t share the nostalgia many have for Poseiden. The overall aesthetic and Mythos itself were spectacular. Personally, I’d rather have a land with an incredible look and feel and lackluster attractions then vice versa. Of course, a great land with great attractions is the best of both worlds, and I wish Uni had kept LC and plugged in new rides. I also think it’s harder to build loyalty to a theme park itself if EVERYTHING is an IP - you’re building loyalty to a brand, but the brand isn’t necessarily Universal Resorts.

I also agree with Legacy to a considerable extent - Universal is good at lands. The lands in EU aren’t perfect (what is), but almost none of their problems are aesthetic (although I don’t think they built a restaurant as great looking as Mythos in the new park). Berk in particular looks and feels fantastic, but it works because the basic architecture is unique, engaging, and fun - the land would work even without the dragons, albeit not as well. If the plan for Pokémon is “mundane area with fantastic AAs” - and we should note here that we don’t know if it is - I’m skeptical that it will work particularly well as a theme park land, especially not one that’s replacing the gorgeous LC, ESPECIALLY not one in IoA, with its focus on fantastical environments. “Mundane with AAs,” fits MUCH better in the Studios, with its reproductions of more familiar places.

Of course, to get back to the original point, we don’t know what we’re getting without some art.

This is a bit of a far out thought but I haven't seen anybody mention it yet....Does anyone think if they're bringing Hammond's over from Beijing that down the line there is a stronger chance they could bring in Jurassic World Adventure where Kong is?

With Kong being on the newer side I wouldn't expect this very soon, but once Pokemon (and possibly Toon Lagoon after) are completed, that seems like it could be a good fit especially with this major dining spot opening right next to it. Not entirely certain of the ride dimensions but I know the Kong building is pretty big and it doesn't have a huge presence as is.

Especially if they're able to split Toon Lagoon into two smaller lands as some are suggesting, this all could come together nicely...

[I realize this may not be the correct thread for this, apologies if there's somewhere else to post this]
